Anthology is looking for a motivated, highly skilled, quality-minded, and detail-oriented individual to join our team. As a Technical Writer II, you will develop and curate help documentation for end users. You will work alongside other writing and design colleagues to deliver a cohesive user experience for Anthology’s portfolio of products.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Researching, outlining, writing, and editing new and existing documentation for Anthology products including Blackboard
- Writing for a variety of audiences, from non-technical end users to developers, system administrators, and integrators
- Independently gathering information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write help content
- Obtaining a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content
- Collaborating with design, product management, and developers to ensure that documentation supports a clear and useful user experience
- Assisting in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates
- Adhering to quality presentation standards and visual and architectural consistency
- Contributing to doc standards, including participating in peer editing
- Gathering user feedback on documentation to improve usability
- Preparing English content for localization for global audiences
- Assisting in website maintenance and organization
- Assisting with user research to evaluate the quality of the end user experience
- Representing Anthology at customer events in person and virtually, as needed

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a background in technical communication, with demonstrated experience developing innovative content for multiple audiences. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to put themselves in the position of their users and create concise content to support anticipated needs, preferences, and learning styles.
Required skills/qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of technical writing experience
- 2-5 years of prior relevant experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills and experience working with content in multiple mediums
- Proficiency with help authoring systems such as MadCap Flare or Paligo
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JS
- Experience working cross-departmentally to communicate the nuts and bolts of a product
- Experience owning an end-to-end documentation creation process for small to medium projects
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to effectively address feedback from both customers and internal support representatives
- Strong research skills and a passion for learning and developing
- Positive attitude and willingness to jump in and tackle new challenges
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Preferred skills/qualifications:
- Previous job experience in the education industry or with e-learning technologies
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Experience with XML and structured content
- Experience with translation management
- Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
- Familiarity with writing API documentation
- Experience with Python, Pendo, or Google Analytics
- Certification from a technical communication program
While the full salary range for this role is $65,300 - $97,900, the expected hiring range for this opening is $65,300 - $81,000, depending on experience and budget availability. We use national and industry-specific survey data to assist in determining compensation. Additionally, we consider factors such as external market rate, budget for the role, and the compensation rates of current employees performing the same function. Some roles will have variable pay.
