Pay Range: $65,000-$75,000

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) must be a Registered Nurse (RN) and will assist the Director of Nursing in managing overall operation of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern this agency, and as may be directed by the Administrator and the Director of Nurses, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Establish priorities and job assignments.
  • Monitor staff activities, communicate policies, evaluate performance, and provide feedback, and assist, coach, redirect, and discipline as need
  • Conduct regular rounds to monitor staff activity and ensure quality work performance.
  • Monitor documentation to ensure the delivery of nursing care according to the physician’s orders, care plans, and established standards and agency policies.
  • Develop and maintain nursing care objectives and standards of nursing care practices for this agency in cooperation with the Director of Nursing.
  • Plan, organize and direct in cooperation with the Director of Nursing, effective administration of nursing staff and patient care given based on the established goals and objectives, standards, policies, and procedures of this agency.
  • Assist in development of Patient Care Plans
  • Attend Department meetings and assist in coordinating activities with other departments of the agency.
  • Comply with, support and enforce Company policies
  • Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding patient’s rights
  • Monitor associate relations practices to ensure practices that maintain high morale and staff retention to include effective communication, prompt problem resolution, positive supervisory practices, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State.
  • Minimal (2) years previous nursing experience.
  • Must be able to relate positive to employees, families, and government regulators, and to work cooperatively with other associates at all levels.
  • Must have ability to complete multiple projects.
  • Must possess basic computer skills, including e-mail use.
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
  • Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Ability to read and write, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, ability to verbally communicate with staff and others, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to understand and apply training and in-service education, ability to instruct personnel during training, education and staff meetings, and ability to remain calm in emergency situations and when handling multiple tasks. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with clients, personnel, and support agencies. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the agency.
