Summary of Position:
Using clinical background, the Clinical Quality Nurse completes a telephonic client specific care review with agency nurses prior to the nurse providing in home client care. Clinical Quality Nurse ensures that agency nurse is appropriate to provide care to client assigned. Clinical Quality Nurse ensures agency nurse has an appropriate understanding of client care plan as ordered by the physician. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities  
These include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)  
 
  • Conducts an in-depth review of nurse’s qualifications and current standing with the agency  
  • Reviews patient’s medical history, care plan and medications with nurse  
  • Documents clinical care review in agency EMR  
  • Answer clinical questions afterhours included but not limited to charting and entering orders
  • Receive report on hospitalizations and hospital discharges
  • Clinical support for field staff and parent/guardians
  • Reviewing nursing documentation for quality assurance
 
Qualifications
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required
  • Active nursing license
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and web-based applications
  • Must be self-directed, able to work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong telephonic skills
  • Ability to collaborate internally with all department
  • Must be available at all times (via phone/email) during shift

Ability to read and write, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, ability to verbally communicate with staff and others, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to understand and apply training and in-service education, and ability to remain calm in emergency situations and when handling multiple tasks. Must function independently and the ability to work effectively with clients, personnel, and support agencies.
