The Role 

Amplify is looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering team. As a member of the team, you will get to live on the front edge of modern technology by building within the Azure stack (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure SQL Server) with other coding languages (PySpark, COSMOS, SCOPE), Databricks, and modeling in Delta and Parquet.  You will help review existing data models and code, and build state of the art pipelines and data models that are at the heart of the studio decision-making process. Your large-scale warehouses will be multi-source environments that present data feeds to real-time production systems. Your customers will be the business, design, test and development teams and they will look to you to help shape how we capture data to improve our test-driven methodologies and build a culture around data driven development. The successful candidate will bring an attention to detail along with modern engineering practices and help us build a high quality, modern data architecture at scale. 
About You
  • 5+ years’ experience with SQL Server. Expert level TSQL knowledge required;  Writing and Optimizing SQL queries that report on large, complex data sets.
  • 5+ years of experience with Azure stack (Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Warehouse, SQL Server, Synapse)
  • 5+ years’ experience designing and implementing scalable ETL processes including data movement (Azure Data Factory, replication, etc.) and quality tools; Responsible for production ETL/ELT pipelines, whether via Azure data Factory , metadata-driven stored procedures, or other tools/techniques.
  • 2+ years' experience building and or maintaining dimensional models. Clear understanding of concepts like cardinality/granularity & fact vs dimension and other general dimensional modeling principals. Familiarity with modeling in Delta and Parquet for both Tabular to build/maintain multiple dimensional models that span a whole department or organization. Concepts like fact vs. dimension tables, granularity, and star schema modeling are second nature.
  • 2+ years’ experience building cloud hosted data systems, Azure preferred; Familiar with Azure database and data pipeline tools, and ideally have some production experience with one of the major cloud platforms.
  • 2+ years working with Synapse for spark workloads - PySpark experience required
  • 2+ years with COSMOS, specifically with SCOPE scripting. 
  • Knowledge of data anonymization and aggregation in large scale warehouse would be a plus.

SALARY AND BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS 

We consider a variety of factors when making compensation decisions. We share this to ensure transparency and set expectations for those considering opportunities with us.
The beginning salary range for this role is $120,000 - $130,000.
As you excel at Amplify, there is potential for salary increases and promotions. If you were to remain in this role, there is earning potential for this level of $160,000.
