Description
AMDA is specifically seeking instructors to teach post-secondary level courses which may include ethics, logic, critical thinking, and introductory courses in philosophy. Qualified applicants should submit a cover letter, and salary history for the part-time Philosophy teaching position. Applicants, who also have professional performing experience, are encouraged to provide those additional details.
- Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules.
- Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
- Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and assessing student work.
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/adjunct faculty member.
- Maintaining accurate academic records
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in philosophy, Humanities, Religion or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of college-level teaching, plus a willingness to learn curriculum-specific material, is required.
- Ability to effectively teach college-level courses, with a commitment to providing excellence in education, including the ability to present course teachings in such a way that students are encouraged to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, to increase motivation, to develop positive self-image, and to clarify their values.
- Computer skill proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel software.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population and adapt to change.
- An appreciation for the traditions of a performing arts academic setting
- Ph.D. degree in Philosophy or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated success teaching at the college level.
- Recent experience in a higher education setting.
- Candidates with teaching experience and expertise in an additional area is highly desired.
- Knowledge and experience in using instructional technology.
Position Information:
- The pay range for this position is $45-$60 hourly.
- This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
