AMDA is seeking Music Directors and Piano Accompanists with experience with any/all styles of music, including Classical, Musical Theatre, Pop/Rock, Blues, etc. Music Director applicants should have previous industry experience as primary, Associate, or Assistant Music Director of stage musicals, musical revues, or touring commercial music acts. Applicants should have experience instructing individuals as well as group ensembles. Piano Accompanist applicants must be proficient sight-readers. Ability to transpose on sight is preferred but not necessarily required. Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching, honed from personal performing experience on a professional level and pedagogy of teaching at a college level.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Instructing students in crafting vocal performances suitable for a high caliber of live music performance.
  • Providing creative  instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules
  • Create and maintain an environment that emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking
  • Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grading student work
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics both online and in-person
  • Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member
  • Maintaining accurate academic records
  • Maintaining online Learning Management System (Canvas) and utilizing to sustain student engagement
  • Contribution to school community, including:
    • Committee participation
    • Active engagement in required trainings and initiatives
    • Viewing student performances
  • Consistent communication and accurate reporting
 
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) / Master's degree or higher (preferred) / or comparable educational or professional experience.
  • AMDA differentiates itself from other performing arts colleges by having students learn from working faculty. Applicants must have performance experience within the industry; preference will be given to those with recent / current performance credits.
  • Experience teaching musicianship, piano, and sight singing is a plus.
  • College-level teaching plus a willingness to learn curriculum-specific material, is required.
  • Applicants will have experience in providing and maintaining a professional studio and performance atmosphere within the classroom.
  • Successful applicants will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively with diverse populations and varying proficiency levels.
  • Applicants will be able to communicate with students in a positive and effective manner.
 
 
Position Information:
  • The regular schedule for this role is based on department needs.
  • The pay range for this position is $30/hour - $40/hour. For administrative and tasks assigned or approved outside of classroom teaching hours will be paid at a standard hourly rate of $35.
  • This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
  • This is a fully in person role.
