The Film Production Equipment Manager (Part-Time) manages all AMDA film equipment for the College. In collaboration with the film production office, this position will support student films: delivering camera, lighting, and sound equipment directly to students, ensuring it’s in good working condition, assisting students with prepping the gear, and following protocols to ensure that it’s returned on time and in good condition. This position will also support Film and Television Arts classes, as well as film shoots, by supplying equipment, offering tutorials, and routinely inspecting and maintaining equipment throughout the week. 
  
A solid knowledge of film equipment is required in order to assess equipment, request repairs as needed, troubleshoot, and offer tutorials. Familiarity with general film standards is necessary to establish procedures with students and be able to create film equipment packages and upgrades. This position oversees and leads student workers inside the equipment room. A collaborative and adaptable work style, along with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff, is essential. 
  
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Maintain and manage the equipment and student prep rooms. 
  • Oversee and maintain equipment inventory with a strong understanding of film production equipment. 
  • Coordinate, package, and prepare equipment for student use. 
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly. Assess damage as needed. 
  • Update equipment as needed; perform repairs or coordinate external repairs. 
  • Research and source new equipment. 
  • Assist in classes when required.
  • Supervise student workers inside the equipment room.
  
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in film production or a related field required.
  • A practical, "hands-on" approach to managing and troubleshooting equipment. 
  • Proficiency with industry-standard digital camera systems (i.e., DSLR, RED, Blackmagic), recording devices, codecs, and related workflows.
  • Experience working on production sets, in a production office environment, or in a film school or acting conservatory strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal leadership, organization, and communications skills (both written and oral). 
  • Strong work ethic, stamina, and passion for filmmaking and education. 
  • Flexibility and experience in managing unpredictable pressures and variable workflows.
 
Position Information: 
  • The pay range for this position is $32 - $35 per hour. 
  • This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check. 
  • The regular schedule for this position is  Wednesday to Friday 9:00 am - 6:00pm. This is a fully in-person position.
