AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. The Production Staff (Part-Time Over-Hire) are responsible for the execution of all technical elements for AMDA Productions, Capstones, and additional educational activities on campus. Duties will include scenic construction, painting, props, lighting, audio, video, and maintenance of production equipment. Staff will also provide a technical presence at dress rehearsals and performances to address issues as they arise. Staff provides on the job training to student crews in support of all theatrical productions. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Construct, load in, and strike all scenic elements. 
  • Help source and organize props for all productions. 
  • Hang and focus theatrical lights for all productions. 
  • Assist in painting sets, furniture, and props in a theatrical style. 
  • Organize, catalog, and maintain all props, furniture and electrical equipment. 
  • Monitor performances for technical difficulties and assist Stage Manager in resolving issues as they arise. 
  • Operate sound, light and projection systems. 
  • Potential light, sound, and video programming may be assigned as needed. 
  • Train and oversee Student Run Crew in operating all theatrical elements in a safe manner. 
  • Oversee the set-up, running, and strike of production equipment to support the AMDA community. 

 

Qualifications:

  • BA or BFA in Technical Theater or equivalent in experience. 
  • Expertise in theatrical tools, concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Experience working in multiple areas of production including but not limited to: scenery, scenic painting, props, lighting, audio, video, etc. 
  • Experience programming ETC Eos Family,, Express, and Expression lighting consoles is a plus. 
  • Experience programming audio and video with QLab. 
  • Works collaboratively in a team atmosphere and operates well under pressure. 
  • Highly motivated and detail oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to foster and maintain a safe working environment utilizing industry standard practices. 
  • Ability to work professionally in an educational environment.   
  • Availability in daytime, evening, and weekend hours

The hourly rate range for this position is $20 - $24/hour.
