Description

AMDA is seeking a passionate, student-centered, and highly qualified Teacher’s Assistant to teach and support the undergraduate Information and Digital Literacy - Through Social Media Landscape course.  This course is delivered In-Person on the NY Campus using instructional technologies through Canvas, Learning Management System (LMS). Teaching assignment(s) will include courses within the discipline of Information Literacy, such as Information Literacy and Research Skills. Faculty members at AMDA are responsible for providing highly effective instruction through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of academic success for all students.
 
 
Faculty Responsibilities Include: 
  • Providing instruction in accordance with established curricula, course outlines, and class schedules
  • Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking
  • Providing a learning vehicle for diversity and inclusion content
  • Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and assessing student work
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
  • Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas
  • Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time adjunct faculty member
  • Maintaining accurate academic records
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
 
 Required Educational Credentials: 
  • BS or BA in Information Literacy or Library Sciences, English or related fields
  • Experience in higher education, plus a Master's degree in Information Literacy or Library Sciences related fields
 
Required Professional Expertise: 
  • A minimum of one year of teaching Information Literacy, Library Sciences, English or related courses in a post-secondary setting
  • Experience with innovative teaching methodologies that focus on creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment
  • Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable professional field
  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technology
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning
  • Successful candidates will be able to apply their discipline expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to emerging performing artists, in an online environment
  • Active scholarship in related field 
 
 
 Position Information:
  • Rate of Pay $20 - $30 per hour 
  • This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
