Summer 2024 Library Student Workers

Library Services Los Angeles, California

Description

Are you someone who enjoys helping others? Do you like working as part of a close-knit team of fun, caring people? And last, but not least, are you a big fan of libraries? Because if so, we'd love to meet you!
The AMDA-LA Library is looking for students to join our team and help support the entire AMDA community. Library student workers are a vital partner in the Library’s many services, and act as a first point of contact for everyday Library users.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Helping visitors search for, find, and locate library materials
  • Answering any and all kinds of questions, via email, phone, and in-person
  • Teaching other students how to use the printers/copiers (including the best tips and tricks to get a perfect copy on your first try)
  • Checking out materials to members of the AMDA community
  • Reshelving books, music scores, plays, and DVDs - always in the right place, of course!
  • Keeping the library neat and clean
Student workers truly play a crucial role in our Library’s services and have a wonderful opportunity to gain valuable job experience.
If this job sounds like something you’d enjoy and excel at, please apply! In your application, please tell us more about yourself and why you think you’d be a great fit for the position - this could include a traditional employment resume (if you have one we’d love to see it), but we also would like you to write a paragraph or two describing yourself, your interests, why you want to work at the library, and anything else you’d like to share! The other important piece of information we need from you is your availability schedule. Specifically, we need to know when you have class/rehearsal time next semester, so that we can hire a group of students that can, together, cover all our library shifts in a given week.
AMDA provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment in which no person is subjected to discrimination or harassment on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, creed, age, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, military and veteran status, or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local laws. This policy applies to all aspects of employment, including, but not limited to, recruiting, hiring, placement, supervision, promotion, working conditions, termination, layoff, demotion, transfer, compensation, and training.
All student employees are paid minimum wage.
