Geothermal Research Program Analyst
Description
Allegheny Science & Technology (AST) is looking for a Geothermal Research Program Analyst to support a federal client in Washington, D.C. involving projects in scientific, engineering, and technical analyses. The position will primarily focus on research improving the technologies and overall efficiency of low-temperature (below 300°F) geothermal systems and expanding their utility through demonstration opportunities—facilitating near-term development of innovative geothermal technologies in geographically diverse areas of the country. The program aims to develop and deploy new low-temperature and coproduction technologies that will help the geothermal community achieve widespread adoption of under-utilized low-temperature resources.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide project management, performance monitoring, documentation, and progress assessment for the projects.
- Support the development, coordination, and management of competitive solicitations and merit reviews.
- Engage with stakeholders on an appropriate level to ensure needs and gaps are being addressed where possible at the Federal level.
- Assist in the development of internal briefing materials for decision makers and contribute technical review of external communications.
- Successfully represent the program status to senior government officials, congressional stakeholders, academia, and industry partners.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Required Experience:
- A minimum 5 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering or Scientific discipline (Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, etc.)
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must be eligible to obtain and or maintain a clearance.
Desired Experience:
- Project management experience/PMP certification.
- Ability to actively track and monitor government-funded energy research and development projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter and ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic collaborative team.
- Experience and/or expertise in the following:
- Geothermal energy systems, hybrid energy systems, and/or energy storage projects.
- Low Temperature applications for community or district scale heating and cooling.
- Geothermal technologies including ground source heat pumps.
- Geothermal reservoirs and borehole thermal energy storage.
