Job Title: Information Research Scientist  

Location: New York, New York

Reporting To: VP, Senior Solutions Architect

Job Description: The Information Research Scientist is a key member of Alger’s IT team responsible for applying mathematical modeling techniques to create new investment management and trading technologies, and consistently seeking and initiating research topics/hypotheses to increase innovation in the robustness of enterprise BI platforms, including data warehouses.  The position must work three (3) days of each workweek in New York, NY office; and may telecommute up to two (2) days of each workweek. 
Duties and Responsibilities:       
  • Consulting with stakeholders to determine needs/weaknesses
  • Designing experiments to test and improve systems
  • Scheduling tasks to ensure research goals are met
  • Analyzing experiment results
  • Applying theoretical knowledge to advance innovation in the writing/validating of data models (relational and dimensional)
  • Organizing and presenting findings/recommendations to management
  • Collaborating with engineering to implement innovative solutions
  • Developing BI tool training and documentation as needed
Qualifications:      
  • U.S. Master's degree in any quantitative discipline.
  • 2 years’ experience developing robust data models – relational (entity-relationship-attribute) and dimensional; structuring data warehouse designs (conceptual, logical and physical) and data warehouse components including Extract/Transform/Load, that improve SQL Server performance and efficiency; and executing database server migration and implementing new patches on the database server.
Compensation: Annual Salary offered is $69,000, plus discretionary bonus and outstanding benefits
