Head of Camera & Lighting
Description
As the Head of Camera & Lighting you will be responsible for the filming and lighting of on-air news and programmes of all galleries, outside broadcast and special events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all cameras and camera control systems are regularly maintained and in excellent working condition liaising with Engineering to achieve the highest technical operating standards at all times.
- Responsible for staff supervision, training and advising Management on new materials/equipment needed to achieve operational excellence and to keep up to date with industry trends. They will be responsible
- for the rostering of camera operators and managing leave and sickness cover.
- To liaise with the supervisors/Team leaders on the day to day running of the Camera/Lighting section
- Ensure appropriate operations processes are followed and that staff are well trained to do the required job to the highest industry standards
- Operation of all cameras and jibs/cranes as Directed, both Studio/Newsroom and location/OB based
- Operating the lighting control panels & maintaining the lighting design
- Operation of the Robotic Camera system and simultaneous operation of the Camera control system.
- To liaise with Directors on all studio productions
- Developing lighting solutions for new studio based shows

Other Responsibilities:
- Proactively looking to enhance the camera output for all studio based shows
- Attending meetings with management and direct reports
- Setting staff objectives as well as carry out annual appraisals for the staff.
- Identify annual training requirements for the team.
- Ensure capturing KPI and generate daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Managing team recruitment and ensure operational continuity.
- Perform other duties relevant to the job as requested by the management
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Film, Communications, Broadcast Operations. Master Degree in related field is preferred as well as specialized diplomas in Camera and Lighting
Experience:
- A minimum of 12 years professional experience in studio cameras and lighting.
- Five years should have been spent in a senior role in a broadcast news environment
