Position at Al Jazeera Media Network

Summary:

The Executive Producer is responsible for overseeing all aspect of in-house production, including but not limited to live TV shows, video content tailored for social media networks and other visual and text content for digital consumption. They must ensure that all content meets the highest possible editorial, creative, professional, and ethical standards.

Candidates must be eligible to work in US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create an editorial vision for the strand or series which supports the programming strategy of the Channel and Network.
  • Build and inspire their team and other colleagues in the Channel/Network to contribute to and follow that vision.
  • Ensure a diverse balance of stories, topically and geographically.
  • Plan the production of all content for their strands or series and the staff and budget required.
  • Manage the development of proposals for the content of all individual programmes in a strand or series in line with the editorial vision and sourcing plan.
  • Manage all in-house production to the highest possible creative, professional and ethical standards.
  • Manage the relevant social media accounts linked to the series or strand and ensure they are well served with multimedia content.
  • Ensure that a consistent digital strategy for social media networks and other online mobile platforms is being followed.
  • Ensure all programmes and associated digital content is delivered on time, within budget and in compliance with all relevant technical and legal standards.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 10-12 years’ experience in TV or related fields including at least 5 years directing and producing factual programmes of an appropriate type (documentaries, discussions or magazines)
  • Wide, up to date knowledge of documentaries, discussions or magazine shows
  • Knowledge of Ofcom regulations and legal dangers for broadcasters and publishers
  • Understanding of the end to end process of TV broadcasting(essential)and online publishing(desirable)
  • A strong grasp of what types of content work on key social media platforms, especially YouTube, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Understanding how to build audiences on social media networks.
