Position Summary:

 

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the BAS Estimator supports the department by preparing tenders and quotations to be submitted to clients and contractors. The BAS Estimator prepares tender prices from engineered drawings and the bill of materials supplied by the client

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors.
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
  • Maintain cost data base by entering and backing up data.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings for clarification
  • Attend pre-tender meetings
  • Track estimates against actual costs and analyze for possible improvements to processes
  • Revise bid packages and prepare addendums as needed
  • Provide Project Coordination and support to the Operations Manager.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in BAS Estimating
  • Graduate from Engineering/Technologist/Construction Management programs
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents
  • Sound computer skills – MS Excel/Lotus, MS Word, Accubid Pro
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Ability to work with others as a team
