Capacity & Supply Planning Manager

Supply Chain Barcelona, Barcelona

Description

Your Role

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Capacity & Supply Planning Manager for our Supply Chain Team. In this role, you will lead all short- and long-term production and capacity planning for our five European manufacturing sites. Reporting to the S&OP Manager, this senior role requires you to lead a team of Production Planners in creating optimal weekly plans and developing accurate capacity models to ensure unified standards and sufficient capacity to meet demand now and in the future. Your key responsibilities will be to proactively identify and resolve production bottlenecks, streamline team processes through automation and mentorship, and provide precise Raw Material forecasts to the Purchasing team for procurement and contract negotiations. All planning is conducted using state-of-the-art tools like IBP and SAP, demanding a strong focus on Master Data quality.

This role is ideal for a leader who excels at both high-level strategy and deep-dive execution in a complex manufacturing environment.

What you will do

  • Lead the short & long-term capacity and supply planning process across multiple factories, ensuring all manufacturing sites are aligned with projected demand and strategic targets.
  • Standardize planning processes, tools, and KPIs across factories, driving alignment, visibility, and operational consistency across the network.
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve capacity models that incorporate key factory dynamics (maintenance schedules, downtimes, efficiency rates, extra shifts, labour constraints).
  • Translate volume forecasts from demand planning into actionable production plans that are both feasible and optimized from a capacity standpoint.
  • Identify capacity risks and constraints proactively, and work cross-functionally to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the preparation and facilitation of capacity review meetings with factory and executive teams, clearly presenting risks, opportunities, and strategic scenarios.
  • Provide to the Purchasing area an explosion of Raw Materials for all the Purchasing Horizon.
  • Manage and develop a team of Production Planners: provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to enhance forecasting capabilities and supply planning excellence.
  • Continuously improve team performance and efficiency by identifying ways to eliminate low-value manual tasks and administrative activities, promoting automation, system improvements, and high-value analysis.
  • Collaborate with IT, systems, and data teams to optimize supply and capacity planning tools and increase process automation.
  • Support executive decision-making through simulations and scenario analyses that assess the operational feasibility of future business growth or supply changes.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations or related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • At least 5/8 years of experience in capacity and supply planning, with proven exposure to factory operations and long-term production modelling in a manufacturing context (preferably FMCG).
  • Previous experience leading a team and driving their development through coaching, performance management, and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in standardizing planning processes and tools across multiple sites or regions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other relevant software tools.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid command of supply & demand planning systems (e.g. SAP IBP, Oracle Demantra, o9, Kinaxis, Anaplan, etc.) and advanced Excel/data manipulation skills; experience in leading system implementations or enhancements is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical capability with attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain principles and best practices.
  • Desire to learn and grow within the role and the company.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of conveying complex information in a clear, actionable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills.
