STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Sports Information Group publishes newspapers and operates a website for horse racing wagerers, enthusiasts and professionals under its Daily Racing Form form brand. The company’s products are the premier destination for horseracing information in North America. The company was founded in 1894 and is headquartered in New York, with regional offices in California, Kentucky, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Washington. The company also offers sports wagering under its DRF Sports brand. We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant in our Harrisburg, PA office OR Las Vegas NV office.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure financial data accurately reflects the financial position of the company 
  • Prepare fluctuation analysis of monthly operating results.
  • Update monthly account reconciliations in support of ending asset and liability balances and research reconciling items. 
  • Compile, adjust and evaluate various accruals to ensure their accuracy. 
  • Prepare additional account and other analyses as requested by management. 
  • Establish and maintain appropriate financial process routines and internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial results and improve operational efficiency. 
  • Prepare relevant documents and financial data for annual audits and work with external auditors to ensure all audit requirements are met and audit issues are resolved 
  • Identify process improvements within designated area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited school 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in industry and/or public accounting or similar

Other Requirements: 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) 
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • High degree of integrity including ability to deal with sensitive or confidential information
  • Ability to exhibit poise, composure and confidence when confronting stressful or high-pressure situations

The position is based in Harrisburg, PA OR Las Vegas NV and will be in office daily for the first 2-3 months, but could transition to up to two days remote work subsequent to successful orientation to the role’s responsibilities.
