The Chief Engineer manages all engineering and maintenance operations, including maintaining the building and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. Accountable for managing the Engineering budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Supervises Engineering department, including scheduling team members to ensure adequate coverage is available.
  2. Responsible for all aspects of maintenance equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
  3. Maintains and operates equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency and safety.
  4. Establishes and manages an effective rooms maintenance program.
  5. Ensures compliance with all Engineering department policies, standards and procedures.
  6. Manages department’s controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  7. Select and order or purchase new equipment, supplies and furnishings.
  8. Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishing and equipment.
  9. Maintains accurate logs and records are required.
  10. Empowers engineering team members to provide Genuine Service to all guests and coworkers.
  11. Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  12. Maintain neat and friendly appearance at all times inclusive of all job areas, using cover clothing when needed to maintain clean appearance.
  13. Other related duties as assigned.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

All Employees must be knowledgeable to all Company policies and procedures, including fire and safety regulations.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

2 year degree from an accredited university in Building, Construction, or Engineering related major strongly preferred. 2 years experience in supervising a maintenance or technical facility required. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines required. Lock-out-tag-out, Blood Borne Pathogens and other safety training is required. These classes are provided by Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino and attendance is mandatory.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

OSHA 10-hour certification preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

MACHINERY USED

Hammer, skill saw, screwdriver, sander, wrench, finishing chemicals, epoxy materials, paint, paint brushes, shop-vac and other materials related to the construction and maintenance field.
