Responsibilities

  • Design, installation, and configuration of network devices to include switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless
  • Monitor and maintain the network infrastructure to ensure it’s secure and up-to-date with the latest security patches
  • Establish, implement, and enforce appropriate network and infrastructure standards to meet business requirements
  • Document network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Partner with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions
  • Respond to escalated requests for technical assistance
  • Advise and make recommendations to management concerning infrastructure and related LAN/MAN/WAN issues
  • Automate via scripting and other tools to gain efficiencies and reduce opportunities for human error
  • Remain current on emerging technologies, tools, techniques and methodologies


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or ability to acquire
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of hands on experience with commonly implemented routing and switching protocols, medium to large enterprise, critical network configuration and troubleshooting, and operational experience with Cisco router, switch, and firewall network equipment
  • Experience working in an environment where availability, scalability, security, compliance, process, change management, and documentation are operating imperatives
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory and Windows
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including experience with technical documentation
  • Experience in deployment strategies for new technologies within a geographically diverse environment
  • Experience designing, integrating, and managing complex network solutions
  • Proficiency with networking protocols and technologies such as OSPF, BGP, VPN, NAT, firewalls, IDS, automated failover, load balancing, NFS, iSCSI
  • Experience supporting and running production 24x7 client-facing environments
  • Experience supporting Cisco voice infrastructure and services a plus
