The Opportunity
 
Adept Group is seeking a Principal Packaging Engineer to add to our team in the Seattle/Tacoma, Washington area! This candidate would have strong experience with full packaging development, including innovation and quality management. This candidate would be a paper-based materials subject matter expert (SME) and have experience with lab/testing support. They would also have experience with other materials such as adhesives, coatings, tapes, and/or labels.
 
This is a hybrid role, 2 days a week onsite with up to 50% travel.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leads multiple complex projects or assignments within large projects with minimal oversight.  
  • Lead packaging qualification activities by generating packaging protocols, overseeing test execution, analyzing test data, and authoring qualification reports. 
  • Lead the improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with focus on performance and cost effectiveness 
  • Facilitate the resolution of the problems during the developmental process to meet the customer's needs 
  • Provide technical expertise for packaging risk assessments and failure mode/root cause analyses. 
  • Lead the improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with focus on performance and cost effectiveness 
  • Maintain and establish ongoing communication with global counterparts and packaging vendors to support cost-savings initiatives 
  • Influence over internal and external stakeholders to have strategic, meaningful & lasting improvement 
  • Able to identify areas of cost savings or improvements to new and on market products
  • Able to interact directly with high level stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering. Advanced degrees or certifications preferred. 
  • 8+ years in a specific focus area of packaging and/or considered a Subject Matter Expert in field.  
  • 12+ years as a Packaging Engineer 
  • Advanced understanding of the full packaging development and qualification process (or stage gate process). 
  • Advanced knowledge of resource planning for trials.  
  • Advanced knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements related to packaging and labeling, ensuring robust package validation and qualification. 
  • Advanced understanding of project timeline development. 
  • Advanced communications (verbally and in writing) across internal and external teams.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $165,000
