The Opportunity
 
Adept Group is looking for a Senior Packaging Engineerin Food and Beverage. This is a contract/1099 opportunity for 20 hours per week. Must be in the Greater Boston, MA area with some travel required.
Key Responsibilities 
  • Leads complex projects or assignments within large projects with minimal supervision for projects including packaging in a pilot line for lab equipment installation and qualifications.
  • Lead packaging qualification activities by generating packaging protocols, overseeing test execution, analyzing test data, and authoring qualification reports. 
  • Provide technical expertise for packaging risk assessments and failure mode/root cause analyses. 
  • Lead the improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with focus on performance and cost effectiveness 
  • Plan and execute a design of experiments. Perform statistical analysis on data generated from experiments and write final reports. 
  • Initiate and coordinate packaging line trials including planning, conducting and post-trial activities. 
  • Partner with purchasing and production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging 
  • Lead internal and external relationships to effectively influence and gain support for initiatives. 
  • Able to identify areas of cost savings or improvements to new and on market products 
Requirements 
  • Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering. 
  • 8 - 10 years packaging engineering experience, food & beverage preferred. 
  • Experience supporting machine qualification.
  • Expertise in paperboard carton development and flow wrapping required.
  • Technical depth on a packaging material, format, or process. 
  • Advanced understanding of the full packaging development and qualification process (or stage gate process). 
  • Advanced knowledge of resource planning for trials.  
  • Advanced knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements related to packaging and labeling, ensuring robust package validation and qualification. 
  • Advanced understanding of project timeline development. 
  • Demonstrated effective communications (verbally and in writing) across internal and external teams. 
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time efficiently and effectively across multiple activities and tasks simultaneously.
