The Commercial Mortgages Sector: A Unique Asset Class 
Are you interested in joining a team of experts dedicated solely to commercial mortgages, creating long-term value through diversified mortgage portfolios? Addenda Capital is the ideal place to build relationships with key market players and collaborate with colleagues from other sectors. 
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Commercial Mortgages, you will support the management of the commercial mortgage investment portfolio. This includes assisting with the review of maturing loans by gathering and analyzing information to support renewal, refinancing, or payout recommendations, as well as monitoring watchlist loans to identify potential risks and flag issues for senior review.
You will also provide analytical support to Portfolio Managers by reviewing new mortgage investment opportunities, preparing credit summaries, and contributing to analysis that supports portfolio management decisions. This role focuses on financial analysis and risk assessment, with opportunities to build credit expertise and contribute to informed investment decisions.
Your responsibilities
  • Prepare credit packages for mortgage renewals, refinances, and annual reviews, ensuring completeness and accuracy for senior review;
  • Support Portfolio Managers by preparing underwriting summaries, conducting financial analysis, and assembling credit packages for new mortgage investments;
  • Assist in monitoring upcoming loan maturities by analyzing loans that no longer meet portfolio objectives and ensuring timely repayment or execution of short-term extensions;
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of portfolio analytics and reporting, including gathering data and preparing analysis;
  • Provide support to team members on routine credit matters and escalate more complex issues to senior staff as appropriate;
  • Analyze and monitor real estate market conditions and deliver quarterly presentations to the Portfolio Managers to inform portfolio management decisions;
  • Assist with the review and input of operating statements into the loan management system, ensuring data integrity and highlighting discrepancies for senior review;
  • Collaborate with funding and administration teams to support timely and accurate loan funding
What you bring
  • University degree – Business, Finance, or related discipline;
  • CFA designation, enrollment in the CFA program with commitment to obtain the designation;
  • 2- 5 years experience in commercial mortgages or real estate, investment management, or banking;
  • Completion of the UBC Sauder School of Business Mortgage Brokerage Course within 12 months;
  • Analytical skills including the use of Excel and mortgage underwriting systems;
  • Superior written and verbal skills;
  • Fluency in the French Language is considered an asset.
