What is the Opportunity
 
Addenda Capital is seeking a Data Analyst, Sustainable Investing to help further develop the organization's sustainable investing vision as a leading Canadian player in this area. Reporting to a Senior Director, Impact Investing and ESG Integration, the incumbent will help execute on Addenda’s four pillars of sustainable investing, namely the integration of ESG factors into investment decisions, corporate stewardship, impact and values driven investment solutions, and the promotion of sustainable capital markets. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong skills in data analysis and interpersonal communication.
What You Will do 

ESG Data Integration:

  • Collaborate with the Data team to improve the ESG dataflow within the firm;
  • Analyze and ensure the robustness and quality of ESG information;
  • Transform ESG information into dashboards to inform investment decisions and for client reporting;
  • Develop analytical tools on impact and climate;
  • Create models to streamline ESG data management processes.

Impact:

  • Verify the qualification of securities for inclusion into our impact fixed income, Climate Transition equity funds, and EcoSocial commercial mortgage funds; 
  • Develop guidelines and best practices in new and evolving impact themes; 

Stewardship:

  • Support the research and analysis of climate change and carbon emissions accounting; 
  • Assist with proxy voting to ensure that votes are performed in compliance with our guidelines 
  • Participate in corporate engagement meetings by identifying ESG topics, preparing research, and tracking engagement outcomes. 
 
What you will need to succeed
Experience and Knowledge 
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in finance, impact investing, environmental stewardship;
  • Undergraduate degree or training in data management, sustainability and/or finance;
  • Have an understanding of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the role the private sector and investors can play in driving positive outcomes on the ground across various SDG goals;
  • Very experienced with Excel SQL, and managing complex data sets
  • Experience or familiarity with PowerBI, and managing databases or other data repositories.
  • An interest in and understanding of sustainability and climate reporting frameworks such as the SASB standards, IRIS+,TNFD and TCFD framework
  • Additional Assets :
    • Knowledge in French;
    • Familiarity with sustainable and finance software, such as Bloomberg, MSCI ESG, Sustainalytics, ISS and Glass Lewis; 
    • CFA designation or working toward a designation.
