Billing Clerk

Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of electronic claims to payer as well as billing paper claims with necessary attachments. This includes supporting medical documentation to meet payer guidelines, explanation of benefits (EOBs) for secondary/tertiary claims when electronic submission is not an option and any payer specific forms that must accompany the claim to process for payment.

  • Responsible for the daily generating, reviewing, sorting, and mailing of paper claims for both primary and secondary insurance carriers.
  • Retrieval of medical documentation, explanation of benefits (EOBs), correspondence and forms from the Practice Manage system or other documentation repository.
  • Timely and accurate manage the daily submission of paper claims, payor requests for medical record documentation, correspondence, and various forms.
  • Sort daily mail and distribute the correspondence, mail and checks to the appropriate location for processing.
  • Support the review and retrieval of Lock Box data for payments and denials.
  • Prepare daily spreadsheet of payments summaries while creating payment or EOB batches in the Practice Management System.

REQUIRED: At least one or more years of related work experience. Operational management knowledge of medical offices. Equivalent to high school diploma or general education degree (GED).

DESIRABLE: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree. Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CareCloud applications. Experience in the Ophthalmic industry.
