Description

DecisiveInstincts, LLC is actively seeking a Software Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) with an active TS/SCI clearance to support mission-critical national security initiatives in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will have expert-level proficiency in Python and JavaScript, a strong background in full lifecycle software development, and the ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to deliver impactful technical solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with national security investigators and analysts to understand mission needs, recommend solutions, and translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and QA.
  • Design, code, test, and debug software components, including:
    • New custom software features and capabilities
    • Enhancements to existing codebases
    • Workflow and operations automation
    • Large-scale data processing and analytics solutions
    • Advanced computational and statistical modeling
  • Conduct operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks such as:
    • Developing new features
    • Troubleshooting and resolving software issues
    • Reviewing logs for patches or performance improvements
    • Refactoring existing code for optimization
    • Assisting in documentation creation
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party solutions (COTS, GOTS, OSS) to solve complex data and technology challenges.
  • Programmatically integrate external components into existing platforms.

Required (Must Haves):

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and JavaScript
  • Demonstrated experience in full lifecycle software engineering
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High proficiency in HTML, CSS, C#, and Java
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Mathematics
    OR
  • Six (6) years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field
