Description

DecisiveInstincts, LLC, is a joint venture (ActioNet and Akamai Intelligence) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) in Charleston, SC. The engineer will lead complex system design and integration for defense-related electronic systems, ensuring compliance with DoD, MIL-STD, and IEEE standards. This role requires strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills, along with hands-on experience in electrical design, testing, and system validation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex system design and integration efforts for defense electronic systems.
  • Develop and validate circuit designs, ensuring performance optimization and reliability.
  • Perform detailed failure analysis and recommend engineering solutions and system improvements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary design and peer reviews, ensuring documentation accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors to evaluate and qualify COTS components for performance, compatibility, and lifecycle reliability.
  • Supervise prototype builds, oversee testing, and support transition to production phases.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in technical development and design best practices.
  • Review and approve design documentation, schematics, and technical reports.
Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Active Secret Clearance required.
  • Certifications (preferred):
    • Professional Engineer (PE) License – Electrical or Electronics
    • DoD 8570 IAT Level II/III (e.g., Security+ CE, CASP+)
    • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 Certification (for electronics manufacturing and soldering standards)
    • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) – optional but beneficial
Desired Skills:
  • Proficiency in SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Altium Designer, or OrCAD.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and IEEE 15288 standards.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing, FMEA, and environmental stress screening (ESS).
  • Strong background in analog/digital circuit design, FPGA interfaces, and power distribution systems.
