Principal Product Manager — Finance Vertical

Product Development Portland, Oregon United States

The Opportunity

Act-On is making a focused, strategic investment in the financial services vertical — and this role is at the center of it. As our first Principal PM dedicated to financial services,, you'll define how credit unions, banks, and insurance companies use Act-On to deepen member and customer relationships across the full lifecycle. You won't be adapting a generic roadmap; you'll be building something purpose-built for a regulated, relationship-driven industry.
This is a high-visibility role with real business impact: you'll shape product strategy, influence go-to-market direction, and establish Act-On as the go-to marketing automation platform for financial services.

What You'll Own
  • Define and drive the finance vertical product strategy — from member onboarding journeys to cross-sell and retention programs tailored to financial products.
  • Identify and prioritize finance-specific customizations: compliance-aware messaging workflows, integration with core banking and insurance policy systems, and reporting.
  • Lead continuous discovery with finance customers — not just to collect feature requests, but to understand their regulatory environment, member/customer expectations, and competitive pressures.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Product Marketing to align product capabilities with go-to-market strategy for the vertical.
  • Establish clear success metrics for the vertical and hold yourself accountable to customer and business outcomes — not just shipped features.
  • Bring finance industry credibility to product decisions, helping engineering and design teams understand the nuances that separate a great finserv product from a generic one.

What You Bring

Required:
  • Director of Marketing at a bank, credit union, or insurance company.
  • Owning demand generation plans, go-to-market strategy, and brand direction.
  • Revenue and pipeline ownership.
  • Full lifecycle campaign planning and execution.
  • Experience with product management processes (through partnership with product teams or direct product development participation).
  • Experience with sales enablement and sales opportunity support.
  • Experience with finance industry operating constraints: regulatory requirements, compliance workflows, core system integrations, and data privacy expectations.
  • Strong discovery instincts: you ask the five whys, challenge initial assumptions, and know how to get beneath what customers say to what they actually need.
  • Ability to operate at multiple altitudes: set a vision, develop strategy, and get into the details of execution.
  • Experience defining customer journeys and aligning product experiences with them
Strongly Preferred:
  • Experience with martech / marketing automation platforms in a financial services context.
  • Industry presence — conference speaking, published content, or active participation in finance or fintech communities.
