Location: Philadelphia, PA
Position is available: Immediately
Travel: This role requires frequent travel to Philadelphia partner schools. On average you can anticipate up to 10 travel days per month, which will fluctuate based on your portfolio of partner schools.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking part-time Temporary Directors of School Support (DSS) to work with teachers and leaders to build a school culture where learning standards, data, high quality curricula, and teacher development are used to achieve breakthrough learning for students. Temporary Directors will work on special assignments to support  professional learning, coaching and implementation of the Illustrative Math curriculum in a portfolio of Philadelphia Public Schools. This is a unique opportunity (September 2023 through June 2024) for an outcomes-driven educators to enact change in the classroom through coaching and supporting teachers and school leaders, working alongside other peer coaches, and collaborating regularly with ANet national teams. Temporary Directors report to the Coaching Impact Lead.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Partner with and coach school leaders to strengthen equitable instruction and increase student achievement

  • Serve as an instructional leadership coach for school leaders, inspiring and motivating teams, supporting school-wide change management, and building expertise in standards-based and data-driven instruction and teacher development 
  • Train and coach teachers and school leaders on effective backwards planning using state standards, complex texts, and curricula to achieve student mastery of grade-level content and addressing learning loss 
  • Develop teachers and school leaders on effective use of data from interim  assessments to target student misunderstandings and improve teacher practice
  • Analyze student data and use research-based practices to inform an individualized strategy for coaching each school
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with teachers and school leaders that establish ANet as a key partner in increasing student achievement
  • Work alongside other ANet team members to share learnings with district teams and strengthen coherence between system and school level work
  • Design and lead professional development sessions for groups of teachers and school leaders to strengthen their understanding of standards-based and data-driven instructional best practices

  • You bring prior experience developing other adults to achieve results over time (e.g. school leadership, instructional coaching, etc.). You know how to develop and motivate others to drive results, while balancing humility and assertiveness. You thrive off building strong relationships, especially when it comes to building trust and credibility quickly. You set long-term goals for change and execute towards them.
  • You draw others in. Your ability to read and respond to unspoken and implicit cues, and your engaging presentation skills leave others energized and wanting to know more. 

Ideal candidates may also demonstrate the following preferred qualifications:

  • You have experience with K-12 math standards and/or knowledge of Illustrative Math. 
  • You have experience coaching teams, leading professional development, and/or managing academic programs at a district/CMO-level.

The pay for this position is $73.02 per hour. In order to uphold our commitment to equity, ANet does not negotiate pay.
