The Role

Under the directions of the Coding Services Supervisor and Manager this position acts as a liaison between Acclara and our global mid-cycle vendors, providing day to day assistance and technical support to their global partners and with management to standardize, develop, and update workflows and policies and procedures for their department as well as monitoring team productivity and quality of work. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Assists with training and mentoring of new and current global employees on policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Perform high volume quality analysis of global employees.
  • Oversee employee daily work volumes, ensuring employees are meeting or exceeding department standards.
  • Provides feedback to internal and external management on team and individual accomplishments, areas of concern, progress, and training needs.
  • Go-to person for global employee questions and concerns and addresses them in a timely and professional manner; obtaining support from management as needed.
  • Review and evaluate patient medical records to accurately assign diagnosis codes, procedure codes and modifiers with a focus on specialty coding and/or hospital/facility coding of higher complexity.
  • Contacts clients and/or submits compliant queries, as appropriate, when documentation in the medical record is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes.
  • Monitors regulatory and payer changes as they apply to diagnostic and procedure coding.
  • Researches and resolves coding related system edits, payer rejections and insurance denials.
  • Participates in reviewing, developing, implementing, and delivering, as appropriate: 
  • Programs for coding compliance monitoring 
  • Criteria for benchmark comparisons 
  • Organization’s policies and procedures 
  • Providers clinical documentation improvement  
  • Reports and application support for HCC/Risk Adjustment program 
  • Onboarding new global partner coders
  • Mentoring and partnering with vendors who may need additional education, monitoring and/or support.
  • Attend special huddles related to coding accuracy improvement.
  • Support the mission of compliance-related activities in a positive and professional manner.
  • Assists with development and presentation of coding compliance activities in a manner that appropriately represents our organization and our dedication to quality coding.
  • Attends and participates appropriately in client meetings.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of the current changes of coding practices by continuing education and reading resource material.
  • Cooperates fully in all risk management and compliance activities and investigations for purposes.
  • May peform CPT and ICD-10 coding, ensuring accuracy and maximum reimbursement.
  • Assist with special projects and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.        

                                                                         

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years coding experience in hospital/facility coding.
  • Nationally recognized coding credential including, but not limited to CPC, COC, CCS,   CCS-P, RHIA or RHIT through AHIMA/AAPC.
  • Advanced understanding of ICD-10, ICD 10-PCS, CPT (including E/M leveling), HCPCS, modifiers, medical terminology, and anatomy & physiology.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work under general supervision in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks, work with interruptions, and deal effectively with confidential information.
  • Possess excellent telephone etiquette, presentation, and problem resolution skills. 
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (especially excel).
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong follow through, time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and monitor employee production and quality.
  • Fully understands the requirements to meet HIPPA regulations.  Must treat all patient information and data with complete confidentiality and take all precautions to secure this information.    

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC experience
  • Prior experience with global vendors
  • Strong understanding of coding operations (monitor work queue volumes and coder quality)

Pay Range: $16.33 - $36.00

This compensation range is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay Acclara in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Acclara may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
