OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
The Residential Recovery Counselor 3 is primarily responsible for providing clinical services to Residents in the form of groups and individual counseling.  Groups will be of interest to the Residents and aid in their sobriety and recovery. The Residential Recovery Counselor 3 works with Residents to not only maintain recovery, but also facilitates skill (re)acquisition such as communication, self-help, domestic, self-care, socialization, personal adjustment, relationship development, use of community resources and skills necessary to reside successfully in home and community-based settings.
This position involves documentation requiring the ability to articulate, document, and measure the individual’s progress.
 
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain a caseload of residents and provide individual counseling services on a weekly basis.
  • Develop group curriculum and utilize evidence-based modalities to provide treatment.
  • Conduct group therapy, focusing on independent living skills and recovery-oriented topics.
  • Mentor Residential Recovery Counselors 1 & 2, providing support and guidance on service delivery and group process, as needed.
  • Maintain client records in electronic health record, ensuring timely completion and accuracy of notes.
  • Ensure Resident confidentiality, abiding by the regulations of 42 CFR part 2 and HIPAA.
  • Function as leader in the absence of the House Manager or Senior Counselor.
  • Orient residents to the program, local surroundings, and community resources.
  • Conduct urine drug screens and breathalyzer with residents according to protocol.
  • Supports the resident in the acquisition of activities of daily living skills, community living and work readiness skills
  • Report safety concerns at residence and follow-through to resolution.
  • Respond to routine and/or emergency medical needs as required.
  • Hold resident accountable to the core aspects of their recovery program.
  • Discuss with House Manager and, as necessary, provide written notes regarding the response of the resident to community living and compliance with treatment plan.
  • Track and attend mandatory trainings.
  • Assists the client in applying de-escalation, problem solving and crisis resolution skills.
  • Completes weekly written observational reports regarding attitudes, behaviors and contributions to the house and involvement in the recovering community.
  • Maintains consistent weekly contact with House Manager.
  • Responsible for notifying House Manager of Residents’ late arrival or no return from curfew.
  • Performs additional duties which help to ensure the quality of resident services provided.
  • Monitor Family Visits and provides assistance to Residents as necessary.
  • Provides assistance to residents concerning growth and sobriety issues.
  • Provide transportation with company vehicles for self-help, employment, doctor visits and any other approved locations by the House Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • CASAC, CASAC II, CASAC ADVANCED, or MASTER CASAC REQUIRED
