Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Educator Staff Development Specialist is responsible for the initial onboarding and ongoing staff development of clinicians. The SDS ensures clinicians are prepared to effectively coordinate, manage, and deliver patient care and services that meet / exceed quality, customer service and regulatory expectations.

The Clinical Educator Staff Development Specialist will onboard, and train clinicians including RNs, LPNs, and Therapists and will participate in the onboarding of Clinical Managers.  The SDS will float to offices in the region to conduct chart audits, perform workflow when needed and ride along on Field Operation Visits and provide ongoing targeted education for  office staff at case conference, staff meetings or other designated times.    The SDS will be required to travel within the region. In addition, the Staff Development Specialist may be assigned to assist agencies to meet their QAPI clinical record review, management oversight and other duties as delegated. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Onboarding & Development of new RN’s and LPNs in the field
  • Develops and trains field preceptors to provide support and additional assistance to clinical staff
  • Utilizes the agency’s clinical software solution to plan, coordinate, and deliver patient care
  • Assists in internal review of documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory, operational, and financial requirements
  • Provides training in agencies within the region as assigned
  • Participates in the implementation of annual in-service/education calendar to include the participation in conducting skills check-off and Field Observation Visits as able
  • As needed works with corporate Education and Development staff to develop continuing education programs acceptable to meet the state CEU requirements for RN’s and LPN’s
  • Conducts ongoing Staff development to clinicians in clinical, customer service and regulatory areas.
  • Maintains training calendar
  • Works in conjunction with Learning & Development and Clinical Resources in the development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical training and in services for clinical staff, including specific training needs identified in action plans developed because of clinical measurements
  • Instructs clinical staff on proper use of clinical software. Acts as a field Tablet super user
  • Assesses health needs of community and assists in the development of plan(s)/ program(s) to meet needs.
  • Participates in public relation and community activities that promote the organization's role as an effective member of the health care delivery system.
  • Provides and demonstrates excellent customer service
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with corporate staff, managers, employees, patients, families, professional colleagues, contracting facilities and vendors.
  • Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including, but not limited to the Compliance Program: Code of Conduct, HIPAA, and Documentation Standards
  • Participates in required orientation and periodic retraining related to the Compliance Program: Code of Conduct, Documentation Standards and HIPAA
  • Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance using the AccentCare Reporting Process
  • Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations
  • Ensures that staff participates in orientation and training programs including but not limited to all required compliance and HIPAA courses and relevant policies and procedures, and that such training is properly documented (Not Applicable to float position)
  • Provides open lines of communication regarding compliance issues within management area including access to the compliance line, ensures that there is not retaliation against staff who report suspected incidences of non-compliance
  • Participates in monitoring and auditing activities and investigations, and implementing quality improvement processes, as required
  • Completes performance reviews and determines compensation and promotions based on the accomplishment of established standards that promote adherence to compliance and quality standards (Not Applicable to Float position)
  • Participates in required orientation, Compliance and HIPAA training programs Prepares compliance reports and participates, as requested, in process improvement activities.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current RN, PT, SLP license and in good standing to practice in the state (s) required
  • Possess and maintain CPR certification
  • Three years home care experience required; excellent knowledge of home care regulations required.
  • Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary setting
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured and in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order
  • Teaching, on the job trainer, or in service educator experience preferred
  • OASIS certification preferred, required in first year of employment
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Position requires CV-19 Vaccination as a condition of employment. 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of accepted professional standards and practice, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrates excellent observation, interpersonal, nursing judgment, written and oral communication skills
