 Abt Electronics has an immediate opening for the position of a Linux-Unix Admin. This is an in-house position (not remote) at our office located in Glenview, IL.  We are a family owned company who has been in business since 1936 and continues to experience strong growth year after year.  Abt Electronics specializes in electronics, appliance & furniture sales, delivery, installation and servicing all the products we sell. In addition, must be comfortable contributing/working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced and fun work environment.  Primary duties include:

• Configure, monitor, and maintain services running in Linux/Unix environments
• Design and deploy servers/services in a highly available manner
• Monitor and apply security updates to applications and operating systems
• Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and admins to meet systems and infrastructure needs
• Provision and manage Linux/Unix Servers in physical, virtual, and container environments
• Provide leadership and technical direction within the department
• Maintain high level of availability for production services
• Responsible for Security of production infrastructure and systems.
• Monitor resource utilization, recommend improvements to efficiency
• Provision and manage Storage Systems
• Install/configure Linux/Unix Systems
• Take Lead on projects and initiatives for future growth

 Technologies Utilized Include:

• Various Linux Operating systems (Red Hat, Debian, Ubuntu)
• LAMP Stack (PHP, Apache, MariaDB)
• High Availability (nginx, keepalived, haproxy)
• Containerization (Docker, Swarm, Kubernetes)
• Virtualization (vmware, veeam)
• Scripting (bash)
• IBM Power Systems (AIX)

 Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years experience
• Strong team player
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work accurately, efficiently and dependably with minimal supervision
• Strong understanding of various Linux Operating systems. (Red Hat, Debian, Ubuntu)
• Demonstrated knowledge of Storage protocols (fiber channel, iscsi, nfs, samba)
• Strong experience with web stacks such as LAMP or LEMP
• Demonstrated knowledge of High Availability configurations (keepalived, nginx, haproxy)
• Experience with install/configuration of Database software (Mysql, Mariadb, Oracle)
• Basic understanding of networking (tcp ip, vlans, firewalls, DNS)
• Basic understanding of scripting (bash, powershell, korn)
• Experience with virtualization technologies (vmware, veeam)
• This is an in-office position; non-remote
