JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: SCHOOL COACH COORDINATOR
CLASSIFICATION CODE: EXEMPT FULL TIME
DEPARTMENT: SCHOOL ENRICHMENT
REPORTS TO: SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM MANAGER
STATEMENT OF JOB: This position provides supervision of on-site school enrichment personnel in conjunction with the School Enrichment Program Manager, Educational Services Coordinator and Clinical Supervisor. The School Coach Coordinator coordinates and/or provides general mental health and substance abuse services, in collaboration with assigned clinical team, to child and adolescent clients with various needs, including suicidal ideation, trauma, and domestic violence. This position plans, organizes and possibly facilitates after school, weekend, and summer services. This position will also act as an advocate for the client with other service providers as appropriate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide oversight for School Enrichment Services staff members at the assigned schools. 2. Coordinate staff case load assignment with School Enrichment Services Clinical supervisor. 3. Share responsibility of outreach activities with School Enrichment Services Clinical Supervisor and Program Manager. 4. Coordinate and/or provide backup coverage for School Enrichment Services team designated staff members, including clinical supervisor/program manager, for assessments, intakes, walk-ins, groups, etc. 5. Assist in maintaining attendance and request for leave at assigned schools. 6. Ability to facilitate referral process to assure continuity of care across programs at ABHS.
7. Coordinate and/or provide therapeutic services assistance to ABHS clinical staff, including, but not limited to, community visits, appointment coordination, outreach services for clients having difficulty accessing services, and/or for reengagement in treatment services.
8. Assist in expanding program services in the community, children’s shelters, residential facilities, hospital settings and in client’s homes to ensure client obtains all benefits and services necessary.
9. Along with the Clinical Supervisor, coordinate and monitor the documentation (progress notes, contact logs, assessments, treatment plans etc.) of designated staff members in accordance with Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and ABHS Standards.
10. Ability to accurately perform re-assessments with people presenting with high comorbidity of substance abuse and trauma-related manifestations under clinical supervision.
11. Coordinate and/or provides prevention education services including presentations, workshops, and other forms public education on a variety of mental health topics, including, but not limited to, substance abuse treatment education and life skills instruction.
12. Collaborates with court/probation, tribal/community agencies, families, and other natural support systems to ensure client’s needs are met. Develops a strong working relationship with community partners.
13. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and competence in adjusting to clientele with varying degrees of traumatic experiences and complex psychological presentations as well as supporting designated staff in this area.
14. Ability to address a variety of diverse spiritual, emotional, and social needs in multiple environments of an often-high-risk population, using a trauma-informed care approach while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and cultural awareness.
15. Participates in interdepartmental clinical team meetings to assist and encourage consistent and timely provision of services. Participates in weekly clinical staffing with other members of the clinical team to review client progress and service requirements.
16. Participation in all required ABHS training and/or mandatory events.
17. Abide by all applicable policies, procedures, and program standards of ABHS, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Indian Health Services, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and other pertinent regulatory authorities.
18. Maintain ethical policies and guidelines as outlined in accepted State ethics laws, rules, policies and principles and as outlined in discipline-specific code of ethics.
19. Provide a positive role model to clients and staff through leadership, self-discipline, and genuine care for the treatment and recovery of clients. All clients and staff members must be treated with dignity and respect.
20. Reports/attends work in timely manner. Must be reliable and communicate directly with supervisor in all matters of attendance.
21. Collaborate with behavioral health provider staff in de-escalation of client contacts that warrant supervisory intervention (through coaching of behavioral health provider staff and/or contact with client).
22. Provides direct clinical services as necessary to maintain service levels during high volume surges, staffing shortages, and/or when otherwise needed to maintain service levels.
23. Work with program leadership to ensure efficient dissemination of all policy and program changes and assist with implementation of new programs.
24. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 21 years of age and possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and 18 credit hours of post-high school education in a field related to behavioral health completed no more than four years before the date the individual begins providing behavioral health services and two years of full-time behavioral health work experience: or high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and four years of full time behavioral health work experience. Associates/Bachelor’s degree in mental health/human services or related field preferred; experience working with Native Americans preferred.
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to speak the Apache language preferred.
3. Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently, with flexibility within prescribed deadlines.
4. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors.
5. Ability to work after hours and weekends according to program and client needs.
6. MS Office proficiency and ability to correctly operate copy machine and fax.
7. Preferred experience providing in-school services and client re-assessments.
8. Valid Arizona Driver’s License and reliable transportation. 9. Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including, but not limited to, fingerprint clearance, drug testing and background check.
