Site Zaandijk
Site Zaandijk is located in the popular well-preserved historic region of the Netherlands and in the most important industrial heritage site in Europe. AAK has been operating in Zaandijk for decades. Working at AAK in Zaandijk means fun, pragmatism and challenge in an innovative working environment, where no day is the same. Approximately 130 employees work together in an informal and professional environment at the Zaandijk site. Around 50 employees work in various shift systems in the plant.

AAK will build a global ‘center of excellence’ for plant-based foods at the site in Zaandijk in line with its strategic direction to meet the fast- growing demand for plant-based foods. This will allow customers to develop, taste and bring plant-based food and beverages with AAK’s assistance as part of our established co-development approach. The center is expected to be operational by the end of 2021. This global hub offers proximity to many of AAK’s customers as well as great access to the nearby ‘Dutch Food Valley’.

About the role
AAK is seeking to appoint a Sustainability Analyst – Better Sourcing to the Global Sustainability Team. This role reports into the Global Manager Sustainable Oils and will preferably be based in Zaandijk, the Netherlands.

The Sustainability Analyst role aims to support and drive progress on sustainability especially within sourcing of palm based on analysis, with a fact driven approach and ability to manage complex sustainability tasks. The role requires strong analytical, data and system management skills, as well as proven work experience within sustainability.

The job is an important contributor to delivering on AAK’s sustainability ambitions within Better Sourcing, through progress on our data collection and processing as well as providing analytical support to AAK’s commercial teams and customers. This role will engage with different internal stakeholders such as the Sourcing & Trading and Commercial teams in different global regions, and the sustainability teams based across Europe and Southeast Asia. The role will involve travel globally to be close to our teams.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop and drive the execution of the annual plan for better sourcing of our raw materials, with a key focus on sustainable palm oil
  • Lead the development of sustainability data management and systems for palm and other raw materials
  • Manage the datasets on global palm sourcing and deliver required reporting outputs internally, and to customers, the RSPO, and other stakeholders
  • Support the grievance management process
  • Complete and keep record of stakeholder’s sustainability questionnaires. Identify gaps and align with the sustainable sourcing team to translate these into actions to close the gaps
  • Deliver on traceability data requirements for customers (from plant to brand, grievances linked to customer supply chain)
  • Support responding to NGO reports on sustainability issues, and keep record of NGO requirements
  • Represent AAK in relevant industry forums and drive alignment with international best practice.
About you
We are looking for a passionate and collaborative Sustainability Analyst with a strong solution-oriented mindset. We appreciate the following qualifications and experiences:
  • Minimum 3 years in similar sustainability role or consultancy
  • Strong data management capabilities, including in Excel, Tableau, and databases
  • Knowledge of (sustainable) palm oil supply chains, relevant stakeholders, initiatives, and trends. Knowledge of other commodities a plus
  • A BSc degree in Agriculture, Sustainable Development or Sustainable Business Management or food technology
  • Experience with project management• Good people and communication skills, able to develop relationships remotely both with colleagues, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders, and deliver key messages clearly
  • Fluent English, other languages (e.g. Bahasa or Spanish) a plus
