AAK Runcorn is the home to AAK Foods, a major manufacturer and supplier of sauces, condiments and dressings to the retail and foodservice sectors.

Our private label work has won awards for taste and quality, and our products can be found on the shelves of stores throughout the world.

From our site on Davy Road, to the east of the town centre, we work with customers to co-develop new recipes for grocery private label products, retail restaurants, quick service restaurants, foodservice and food ingredients.

About the role

AAK are seeking to appoint a Kitchen Process Technician to join the manufacturing team at Runcorn, working 39 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving improvements in the Kitchen areas and leading training initiatives to ensure a multi-skilled workforce across all shifts.

Responsibilities

  • To support the Kitchen and Shift Management team to driving both Kitchen and site standards, using lean manufacturing techniques to identify improvement areas.
  • Identify training needs and work in conjunction with the Training Administrator to coordinate relevant training, ensure the training matrix is kept up to date and training paperwork is completed and signed off in a timely manner.
  • Support the scale up of product development from CI kitchen to factory manufacturing, including factory trials and product launches.
  • Responsibility for creating and maintaining troubleshooting databases to support continuous improvement.
  • Promote a problem-solving mentality and lead investigations into failed products and generate improvement actions.
  • Responsible for creating relevant SOP’s for assigned areas.
  • Support with site projects, including installation and commissioning of new plant and carry out associated training.
  • Work to support improvement in plant reliability.

About you

The successful candidate should have the following skills and experience:

  • Food science qualification or proven experience in a similar kitchen or manufacturing environment.
  • Train the trainer qualification or demonstrable experience of delivering practical and theory based training.
  • Solid understanding of improvement techniques, e.g. lean and six sigma, to support business improvement.
  • HACCP Level 2.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify problems and develop and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Good technical ability in using software packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Good working knowledge of MTMS or other production management software.
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Ability to confidently communicate across all levels of the business.
  • A flexible and reliable approach to work – with the ability to work on shift when required for trials or training.
