Position Overview
The Services Solution Architect, Security works closely with the Zones sales teams to help grow the profitable sales of infrastructure solutions within a region and/or market. The goal is to help manage the above market growth rate of revenue and gross margins for hardware, software, and services for enterprise products defined as primarily servers, storage, networking, and other advanced technologies.
The Services Solution Architect’s role is one of pre-sales resources to utilize their technical background to lead the consultative discovery of the client/prospect’s business goals, objectives, and challenges and to translate them into effective infrastructure solutions. Your ability to achieve sales and profit goals will transpire through joint account planning, partner teaming (internal & external), on-site client interface/visits, engagement/solution development and implementation support/follow-up. The SA plays a leadership role, by analyzing business requirements, presenting related solutions, and driving the business case and financial justifications.
This is a remote position - we prefer this person to be based in Dallas or the surrounding area. The capability to occasionally meet or work onsite may be requested.
What you’ll do as the Services Solution Architect, Security:

Cloud Security Architecture
- Deep understanding of securing cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid/multi-cloud deployments.
- Proficiency in cloud-native security controls, such as IAM, network security groups, key management services, and cloud compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST).
- Experience designing and implementing secure cloud infrastructure as code (IaC) with tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager.
Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Expertise in IAM frameworks and technologies, including SSO, MFA, and identity federation protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
- Experience designing and implementing role-based access control (RBAC) and privileged access management (PAM) solutions.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust principles, including identity as the new security perimeter and continuous verification practices.
Network and Endpoint Security
- Advanced understanding of network security principles, including segmentation, microsegmentation, VPNs, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Proficiency with endpoint protection, extended detection and response (XDR), and enterprise mobility management (EMM) solutions like Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, or Palo Alto Cortex.
- Familiarity with secure network architecture designs, such as zero-trust network architecture and software-defined networking (SDN).
Threat Intelligence and Incident Response
- Experience with threat intelligence platforms (TIPs), SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel), and threat-hunting techniques.
- Knowledge of incident response frameworks and tools, including SOAR platforms, for automated incident triage and response.
- Expertise in developing incident response playbooks, root cause analysis, and proactive threat detection strategies.
Application and Data Security
- Knowledge of application security principles, including secure coding practices, application security testing (SAST/DAST), and DevSecOps integration.
- Proficiency with data security measures like encryption, tokenization, and data loss prevention (DLP) for both structured and unstructured data.
- Understanding of API security, including OAuth2, API gateways, and best practices for securing microservices.
Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge
- Familiarity with relevant compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and the ability to design architectures that meet regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of audit processes and best practices for maintaining compliance through security policies, documentation, and reporting.
- Ability to advise on risk management frameworks, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS, and integrate compliance requirements into security design.
Automation and Orchestration Skills
- Proficiency in automating security tasks and processes through scripting (Python, PowerShell) or orchestration tools (Ansible, Chef).
- Experience with security automation in CI/CD pipelines, implementing automated code scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance checks.
- Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Puppet) for deploying security configurations across environments.
Experience with Emerging Technologies
- Awareness of modern security technologies, including AI/ML in cybersecurity, threat intelligence platforms, and behavioral analysis.
- Understanding of security considerations in emerging areas like IoT/OT security, container security (Kubernetes, Docker), and blockchain.
- Ability to evaluate and integrate emerging solutions and technologies that align with evolving security needs.
What you will bring to the team:
- BA/BS degree in Electrical Telecommunication Engineering/Eng/Related required
- 5+ years in a pre-sales technical role
- 10+ years of progressive, post baccalaureate work experience
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills including demonstrated experience presenting technology recommendations from a business perspective
- Understanding of the industry, market, customers, competitors, suppliers, partners, and capabilities of the business
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and management
- Professional, business-focused attitude and courteous manner towards clients, partners, and peers
- Consultative problem solver ‘Actively listens’ Understands the needs and business problems in order to uncover potential value points of offering
- Can multi-task, prioritize, and juggle to serve multiple clients during same time frame
- Demonstrates a high level of responsiveness to the customer to enlist trust and build credibility
- Strong interpersonal, teaming, leadership, creativity, influencing, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills required
- Ability to travel an average of 25% of the time
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in IT with an emphasis on Enterprise Security Services
- Must be fully knowledgeable and able to design, plan, and support deployment efforts around IT security solutions using one or more of the following technologies:
- Network Security
- End Point & Mobile Security
- Virtualization Security
- Identity & Access management
- Security Management and Operations
- Encryption & VPN
- Application Security (including web/cloud and database)
- Anti-Malware Solutions
- Web & Email Gateways
- Multiple Industry recognized Certifications i.e.: CCIE, GCIH, CISSP, CompTIA Security
Qualified candidates can expect a salary range of $137,000 - $165,000 + bonus.
