Description

We currently have a full time opening for a Quality Engineer in our Vista, California headquarters.

The Quality Engineer is responsible for the overall Quality at Zodiac.  Works with internal Supply Chain and Suppliers to continuously improve performance through driving and facilitating problem solving, implementing process controls, promoting risk mitigation, and developing quality assurance plans.  The QE uses data to improve performance of key components and suppliers and identify continual improvement opportunities.

This position requires communication and leadership skills that would enable the QE to drive major Quality improvement projects with cross functional Teams not only internally at including Zodiac Vista personnel from Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain as well as with Suppliers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive key Quality initiatives in Vista Manufacturing, improving Quality performance through the use of Zodiac Quality tools and concepts.
  • Assist in conducting Process and Systems Audits that ensure Supplier compliance, and development of improvement plans where deficiencies are documented.
  • Assist in development and improvement of Supplier Measurement Systems.
  • Assist in driving and facilitating Effective Problem Solving to address nonconformance’s and prevent recurrence.
  • Assist in evaluation of Supplier Production Part Approval Process and First Article reports / submissions.
  • Assist in implementation of Supplier/Engineering changes.
  • Source Inspection of critical components to print / standard requirements.
  • Assist in review and assuring compliance to Control Plans and PFMEA’s.
  • Assist Zodiac Quality in support during new product introduction using APQP methodology or similar NPI/NPD models.
  • Assist in providing technical expertise to suppliers in solving technical problems.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar Technical Degree.
  • Experience working with Injection Molding processes and assembly of plastic/metallic components.
  • Experience with both manual and automated Inspection Tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM’s).
  • Experience with evaluating inspection reports to prints and specifications.
  • Team player – Ability to work with both Zodiac and suppliers.
  • Basic experience with 8D (RCCA) and/or AIAG CQI-20 Effective Problem Solving models.
  • Basic education on AIAG tools and concepts (Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA, Layered Process Audits, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
