We help great food brands to build their DTC business in a way that strengthens their overall omnichannel business by building engagement, loyalty, and insights from their most loyal consumers. We currently manage the webstores for over 40 brands including: Celestial Seasonings Tea, Tootsie Roll Industries, Torani Syrups & Sauces, Atkins, and many others.

THE POSITION

 

Reporting to MDC Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor will be a primary people leader and process improvement manager in our Missouri Distribution Center.  You will assist the Operations Manager in providing leadership, direction, and hands on involvement for areas of responsibility.  To this end you will be responsible for providing daily supervision to ensure internal/external customer demands are met in addition to driving continuous improvement of SAQDIP, Safety-Attendance-Quality-Delivery-Inventory-Productivity.

  • Prints and sorts orders, prints PO’s and receives in product, creates the Cycle Count sheets and enters in the counts, and answers general questions from customer service
  • Picks orders, packs orders, or receives inventory and restocks shelves
  • Tightly manages an accurate inventory through robust receiving, picking and cycle counting processes
  • Identifies bottlenecks in the daily operations and can quickly reorganize the workforce to ensure all orders are shipped every day
  • Is able to oversee the organization with minimal oversight for extended periods of time

 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Can expertly perform all functions within the warehouse to include training mastery
  • Directs and guides the team with regards to picking, packing, and shipping orders; receiving and stocking inventory; quality assurance, processing returns; stocking supplies; etc.
  • Possess the operational understanding and leadership skills to be able to oversee the entire operations when the Operations Manager is out of office.
  • Supports the team to meet Safety, Attendance, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity metrics (SAQDIP)
  • Supports the Operations Manager in driving Lean operational excellence throughout the location.
  • Closely monitors daily schedules and coordinates labor to meet on-time- delivery objectives and productivity goals.
  • Ensures all associates are knowledgeable of, and comply with, all work policies and     Quality system requirements.
  • Organizes and deploys labor throughout the day to complete workload and works to enhance cross- training for increased labor flexibility
  • Provides input to the Operations Manager in evaluating associate’s performance, development plans and merit recommendations. Coaches and trains associates to improve performance. Works closely with Operations Manager to resolve issues resulting from unacceptable associate’s behavior.
  • Supports the Operations Manager in providing hiring recommendations
  • Will be assigned hourly associates as direct reports as they progress.

 

QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS  

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

 

  • BA/BS Degree; Physical Science, Engineering, or Business degree or Associates Degree with 10+ years’ equivalent and applicable experience
  • 5+ yrs leadership experience in a 3PL warehouse utilizing WMS
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Demonstrated change management acumen in work history.
  • Highly focused on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Ability and desire to work and lead your team largely independently while keeping the Manager and other key stakeholders apprised of current statuses.
  • Experienced in Lean techniques such as Kaizen, 5-S, etc.
  • Basic financial understanding preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills. Specifically, must be able to create Pivot tables from Excel data sets for reports and general algebra understanding.

 

Expected Compensation Range:  This is a salaried position based in our MDC Distribution Center located in Kansas City, MO.  Expected annual compensation is between $60,000 - $70,000 plus benefits including medical, dental, and 401k.
