Windward is seeking a highly skilled Azure Monitoring Engineer to join our Enterprise Monitoring team. This role is primarily focused on monitoring and supporting applications hosted in the Azure Cloud environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Azure Monitor, and other tools for synthetic monitoring and application performance monitoring. A strong understanding of Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (Saas) is essential, along with the ability to integrate and support SCOM and Azure Monitor alerts within ServiceNow event management. Familiarity with Splunk for log analysis is highly desirable. In this position, the Azure Monitoring Engineer will be responsible for implementing and managing synthetic monitoring and application performance monitoring solutions. The engineer will utilize their knowledge of Azure SaaS and PaaS to define monitoring to enable the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. They will also be tasked with creating and maintaining dashboards for monitoring and reporting purposes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve complex application and infrastructure issues, and providing technical support for cloud-based applications and services. Additionally, the engineer will develop and maintain documentation related to monitoring processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Continuous improvement of monitoring and support processes through automation and optimization will be a focus of this role, ensuring that the team remains efficient and effective in their operations. The Azure Monitoring Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining the performance and reliability of applications in the Azure Cloud environment, contributing to the overall success of the customers digital services.

Responsibilities

  • Define standards to Monitor and support applications in the Azure Cloud environment using SCOM, Azure Monitor, and other relevant tools.
  • Define, Implement and manage synthetic monitoring and application performance monitoring solutions.
  • Utilize Azure SaaS and PaaS knowledge to establish monitoring baselines to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Integrate Azure Monitor alerts with ServiceNow event management to ensure timely incident response.
  • Create and maintain dashboards for monitoring and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex application and infrastructure issues.
  • Provide technical support for cloud-based applications and services.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to monitoring processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Continuously improve monitoring and support processes through automation and optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience with SCOM and Azure Monitor for application and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS SaaS and PaaS.
  • Experience with ServiceNow event management and integration with monitoring tools.
  • Ability to create and manage dashboards for monitoring and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Splunk for log analysis and monitoring is highly desirable.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Microsoft Azure (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with other monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or New Relic.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and methodologies.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
