Wilsonart currently has an opening for an Director, Manufacturing for our Temple, TX manufacturing facility.  
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Manufacturing Operations to oversee all aspects of our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in driving operational excellence, optimizing production efficiency, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize manufacturing operations, improve efficiency, and meet company objectives.
  • Operational Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the manufacturing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction, implementing lean manufacturing principles and other best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements, implementing rigorous quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with supply chain partners to optimize inventory management, procurement, and logistics, ensuring timely delivery of materials and components.
  • Safety and Compliance: Establish and enforce safety protocols and compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the manufacturing budget, monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving initiatives where possible.
  • Team Development: Recruit, train, and develop manufacturing personnel, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, sales, and finance, to ensure alignment of manufacturing operations with overall company goals.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of manufacturing operations, regularly reporting on performance, and making adjustments as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
 
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex, dynamic manufacturing organizations of more than 250+ people.
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve results. Equally effective in communicating from the Executive Team to the shop floor.
  • Proven ability to drive organizational change and build a Winning Culture
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing relationships with external partners.
  • Solid understanding of quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/MRP systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree Required in Engineering, Operations Management, or other closely related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.  Master’s Degree is preferred. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 7+ years in a leadership role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills.
  • Statistical and analytical problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated history of growing and developing direct reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting in the same location of standing/walking; required to stoop, climb, or lift light material (10-20lbs) or equipment.
ENVIRONMENT:
Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noises, and bright lights. Examples: mail clerks, material handlers and food service workers
