Whalerock Industries is a media and entertainment company with a mission to re-imagine how brands and content are optimized and exploited in the digital world. Whalerock has developed, built, and grown more than 20 premium media properties both alone and in partnership with the world's biggest brands, celebrities, and networks. The company has three divisions: owned-and-operated brands, a consulting business, and a studio specializing in unscripted TV production.

Whalerock Industries is looking for a SVP of Finance to join their team. This is an exciting and compelling opportunity to play a critical and high-profile role within the Company, acting as a key strategic business partner to the COO and CEO    and driving the growth of Whalerock Industries.  The SVP will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal responsibilities for the Company including financial planning and analysis, accounting functions and risk management. Reporting to the COO, this position will work closely with all business leads and will supervise a team of six.

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a major role in setting the business strategy in collaboration with the CEO and COO.
  • Oversee the accounting and financial reporting function, ensuring that effective internal controls are in place and the company is in compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws.
  • Manage the long term strategic plan, annual budget process and quarterly re-forecasts with the management team and operators.
  • Manage cost discipline in a company where there is a steadfast focus on cash management.
  • Drive profitability of the Company, identifying revenue-generating and cost-saving opportunities to ensure growth and budget targets are achieved.
  • Interface with financial institutions and investors; arrange and negotiate bank credit lines, loans and funding rounds.
  • Ensure best-in-class finance infrastructure: processes, systems and people.
  • Oversee annual external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and tax filings.

Ideal Experience

  • Broad and deep financial and operational experience (12-15 years) in a digital media, media, entertainment, technology, internet or an adjacent industry. Specific experience in TV production strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in a senior finance role with a growth-oriented public and/or private business and a track record of helping to drive equity value.
  • Experience leading an organization through transactions, specifically: fundraising, M&A, negotiating debt structure is desirable.
  • Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner of a multi-divisional organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing effective procedures for tight working capital and cash management.
  • A. or B.S. in Finance or other related field of study and M.B.A. or C.P.A preferred.
