About the role:

As the organisation behind our world-class events evolves so do our revenue lines. From ticket sales to strategic partnerships, we look to maximise each opportunity to seek new avenues of exploration to secure market share and further penetrate key verticals and regions. This sees us in the exciting position where we are now opening a brand new role for Web Summit - Chief Commercial Officer.

The role is responsible for driving all our revenue lines, our various sales teams in multiple locations and strategically planning and executing methods to continue the significant year-on-year growth we have experienced to date.

What you’ll achieve at Web Summit:

  • You’ll partner with the leadership team in all aspects of commercial planning and business strategy, business development, commercial operations and planning.
  • You’ll lead the strategy in expanding our revenue growth in key markets and with commercial stakeholders, expanding future revenue lines.
  • You’ll lead the effort to acquire the necessary market research that informs our commercial growth providing guidance to both the Leadership and your sales teams.
  • You’ll prepare for the approval, launch, and ongoing commercial management of the Company's products.
  • You’ll develop our sales teams in our HQ in Dublin, Ireland and our strategic commercial business developers placed around the world ensuring they are challenged, supported and developed.
  • You’ll support our sales managers with various levels of management experience in best practice management development partnering with our Learning & Development function to formalise our commercial management training.
  • You’ll be the key decision maker in our commercial hiring strategy working with our in-house recruitment team to ensure we are setting our newest additions up for success by selecting and onboarding the very best sales people.

Who you are:

  • You’ve a minimum of 10 years building commercial (business development & customer success) teams, and leading them with energy and vision in a senior leadership capacity.
  • You’ve lead multiple outbound sales teams (both telesales & field sales) of various levels of experience including remote teams.
  • You’ve a product mindset, with experience of building an engaging journey for commercial and consumer customers.
  • You’ve driven market penetration at a country, regional and global level taking a direct, hands-on approach to the strategy and tactical development.
  • You’re a sales coach with a personal interest in emparting best practice sales techniques to your people.
  • You’ve executed plans with commercial impact, through a qualitative and quantitative approach.
  • You’ve leadership experience in positioning a brand, developing marketing materials and storytelling with an understanding of how to lead the quantitative necessities including customer acquisition strategies and optimising commercial impact.
  • You’ve inspired marketing and sales teams, through clear leadership on short-term and long-term priorities, including where to focus their time.
  • You’ve the capacity to talk honestly about issues so that they can be resolved and the leadership team are aware of both the challenges and wins in equal measure.
  • You can demonstrate the value to maintaining creative tension across C-Level Leadership, your commercial teams and the overall business
  • You’ve hand-on experience and know-how to segment customers and markets for maximum impact.
