Reporting of the role 

This role reports to the Managing Partner 

Innovation sits at the heart of their business and is expected from their media agency. Great executional ideas backed by clear consumer insight and rigorous measurement capabilities are sought after. They want to be pushed to try new things. 

The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead a small planning team in the day to day running of the account whilst managing other specialist teams within the agency, to ensure an integrated approach to the strategic and activation planning across all channels. 

Understanding of digital is key as most plans are integrated while some of the smaller plans are fully digital 

Measures of success –  

  • Delivering the best communications plan to the client and getting agreement on the strategy. The hallmarks of great plans on this account offer numbers-driven insights and ideas to build business growth for the brand.
  • This is an increasingly global account and accountability is important, so reporting is weekly and highly complex. Flawless reporting will be expected to be on-time and constantly optimized.
  • Working with the Managing Partner to mentor and guide the team in order to upscale the junior talent for better account servicing

Responsibilities of the role: 

  • Utilize an in-depth knowledge of Malaysian consumer behavior, global, regional and local trends and the evolving media landscape to provide appropriate input and direction to the team.
  • Develop a strong understanding of clients’ brand activity and identify suitable opportunities to up-sell or cross-sell Wavemaker and GroupM out-of-scope services.
  • Develop strategic media-neutral / integrated plans.
  • Act as key liaison accountable for the output among the different teams of Wavemaker and GroupM, including the planning, implementation and buying teams, digital specialists, content and activation units and associate WPP companies such as Ogilvy etc. as the need arises.
  • Assist the Managing Partner to manage the portfolio’s P&L, balance client media budgets and deliver on annual media KPIs.
  • Develop a close working relationship with senior management of key media partners to facilitate collaboration and breakthrough communications solutions.
  • Development of team members are important in the organization.

 

What you will need: 

  • The successful candidates will have at least 10 years of media planning experience.
  • They will also have excellent budget management, client servicing and selling skills.
  • Possess an analytical personality with a talent for innovative thinking and problem-solving.
  • Numerically inclined, ability to interpret data and statistical information.
  • Passion for constantly learning something new and exciting.
  • Possess skills in negotiating, interacting, managing and dealing with people.
  • Working attributes include strong initiator, results oriented, ability of working under pressure in challenging and fast changing business environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Team player: must be able to work well in a team, communicate and coordinate with other members.
