The Role 
What has gone before will no longer set the foundation for future success.  The Strategy Partner will take on the immediate role of “Change Agent” to steer the exciting transformation journey that starts today. 
Acknowledging but also challenging the traditional sophistication of yesterday, the Strategy Partner will be future thinking and have the gravitas to take all stakeholders on the brave journey of change in media led communications strategy to deliver continued effectiveness. 
This transformation will see the Strategy Partner fostering a fundamental shift in how communications strategy is brought to life and resetting deliverables for success.  This will be driven by an inherent confidence in technology and digital channels paired with a deep understanding and perspective on creative excellence in media to support this transformation. 
As a 100% client dedicated role, the Strategy Partner forms part of the leadership team across the dedicated Client Team within the whole of WPP : this collaborative model incorporates leaders from Wavemaker, Ogilvy and Hogarth. You will be immersed in the client business and deliverables on a daily basis and be part of the core client team across this collective. 
Whilst there is a broad thinking and direction aspect to the role, the focus continues to be on rolling up your sleeves and getting it done.  You’ll love to get stuck in and write and deliver content yourself.  Your contribution will come both from doing great work yourself and through coaching and supporting others.   
Key Deliverables: 
  • Short-term = You are the Change Agent:
    • Writing the blueprint for change required in comms strategy approach going forward,
    • Resetting deliverables for the transformation based thinking approach,
    • Aligning and embedding new thinking with Snr clients and agency partners,
    • Fostering the change within the dedicated client team internally (Media Agency & Creative).
    • You are leading and producing the communications strategy product for the portfolio of household brands in ANZ (more than 22 Brands).  This includes both at a portfolio level as well as brand level communications strategy responsibility.
    • You continue to challenge and drive new thinking for client business challenges – this is a proactive thought leadership role that may not always start with a “brief” to respond to.  You may be writing the brief and also articulating the business challenge to overcome.
    • You make the complex simple with ability to document and share new & innovative thinking and rationale in an easy to digest manner for all stakeholders across all levels of seniority.

  • A media generalist with ability to discuss, evaluate and opine on media channels, formats, data practices, marketing science, measurement.

  • You are leading the ANZ communications agenda for ~$50mill+ in media billings
  • You will lead strategic thought leadership for a team of 20 in the dedicated client team at Wavemaker ANZ – with support of dedicated Planning, Digital and Investment Leaders within the team.
  • Via the “local first” client structure model, you get a seat at the regional and global client C-suite table
  • You work hand in glove with a team of strategy & planning smarts within Wavemaker locally as well as being a part of the dedicated client strategy community covering 12 Wavemaker markets across AMEA.
  • You partner with the senior creative strategy and planners to craft and produce the communications strategy for creative and media as one deliverable.
