Lead Studio BI Analyst

Overview:  Digital Gaming Analyst with proven passion and skills in working with designers, developers, marketing, community, operations, finance and executives to develop deep and broad understanding of our players (e.g. how they play, what they’re saying, and how we can increase satisfaction).  You will lead the studio group to analyze data and provide actionable insights and recommendations on how to enhance and optimize enjoyment, engagement and overall efficiencies in all areas of gameplay and the player life cycle. 
Reports to:  Head of Analytics in Austin; also a member of Wargaming’s Global Analyst Network.

Example Job Activities:

  • Will manage, coordinate, and lead the Austin Data Analytics team.
  • Will coordinate the efforts of game data analysts across the Wargaming Analyst Network.
  • Design, draft and produce reporting and analysis based on specific game Dev Studio requirements.
  • Interface with game team(s) and BI staff to identify information requirements, analytical questions and hypotheses, data sources, business rules, desired outcomes and impacts.
  • Develop analytical and statistical models utilizing external reference and internal research data.
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver an unbiased, fact-driven approach to research and reporting.
  • Provide analytical support for game design, development, testing and operations, pre and post launch (UX/UI testing, player journey and engagement, gameplay balance, player churn).
  • Work with Studio BI Data Engineer and/or Game Engineering on data needs, telemetry and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Regional Offices and Global BI to support marketing analysis (funnel, campaigns).
  • Assist Studio finance and operations reporting and analysis (monitor business KPIs, forecasting).
  • Active participation in Wargaming.net’s Global Analyst Network: shared investigations, peer-reviewing, mentoring, activity streaming, etc., to further enhance our competitive advantage.
  • Other areas of data-driven reporting, analysis and investigations as may be required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or Analytics; MBA ideal
  • 3-5 years’ experience in quantitative or qualitative research in the videogame industry
  • Experience with video game publishers, developers and video game market research firms a plus
  • Ability to effectively convey analysis and statistics via contextually appropriate, logical data stories
  • Track record of effective communication and presentation skills both in-person and remote
  • Experience with a variety of database systems, with extensive use of MySQL; Hadoop a plus
  • Solid understanding of SQL and other query languages; experience with ETL tools a plus
  • Experienced in statistical modeling and data mining; knowledge of SPSS, SAS and R a plus
  • Experienced working with Web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.) is a plus
  • Familiarity or experience with unstructured data, text and sentiment analysis, surveys and NPS
  • Experience with data discovery, visualization and dashboards; Tableau highly preferred
  • Experience in product research and analysis, conjoint research and focus groups a plus
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • High integrity and demonstrated ability to work with confidential information
  • Extremely detail oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Passionate about digital gaming and multi-player online games
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 20% of the time
  • Foreign language skills a plus, especially Russian
