Technical Writer – Robins AFB, GA
VOR Technology is seeking a qualified Technical Writer to support in the Robins AFB, GA area. The technical writer will write and edit repair Technical Orders for Depot Maintenance of USAF Avionics.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Authors Depot Overhaul and Maintenance Technical Orders.
- Writes technical content for maintenance technical manuals including
  installation, test, repair, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Performs validations / verifications in accordance with USAF Requirements
- Interfaces with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to verify and understand
  technical concepts and develop courses of action to ensure project
  completion is on time and within budget.
- Acquires and verifies subject matter content by interviewing workers engaged
  in developing products, observing production methods, referring to
  engineering drawings, notes, manuals, and similar publications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in English, Technical Writing or similar degree.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Have a working knowledge of MIL-STD style guides MIL-STD-40051, MIL-
  STD-38784, or equivalent.
- Have a working knowledge of MIL-STD style guides MIL-STD-38784, MIL-
  PRF-38807, MIL-PRF-87929 and Government Printing Office style guide.
- Ability to write technical content for maintenance technical manuals including
  installation, test, repair, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Ability to author Overhaul and Maintenance Technical Orders at the Depot
  Level.
- Ability to acquire and verify subject matter content by interviewing workers
  engaged in developing products, observing production methods, referring to
  engineering drawings, notes, manuals, and similar publications.
- Candidate must be familiar with the understanding of DOD Technical Manuals
  and Air Force Technical Orders.
- Candidate must be familiar with researching and reading Contracts,
  Statements of Work, Technical Manual Contract Requirements (TMCRs), and
  Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs).
 -Familiar with layout, design and structure of Depot Technical Orders (TOs)
  including Operation and Maintenance, Theory of Operation, Fault Isolation
  Procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and software description
  documents.
- Working knowledge of Arbortext, SGML, Adobe FrameMaker, and Adobe
  Photoshop.
- Excellent written and oral communication is required and training process to
  generate required materials and conduct required in process reviews.

Desired skills
- Experience in HTML / SGML / XML editing software and Arbortext Editor.
- Experience with tracking status for multiple projects.
- Previous military experience or working in DoD industry.
- Ability to interpret drawings, write using clear and concise language that
  adheres to customer-established standards and conventions.
