RESPONSIBILITIES to include but not limited to:

  • Understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies.  Ensure that safe and sanitary working conditions are maintained in the facility in accordance with Company standards, as well as, state & federal laws and regulations. Know and understand your OSHA rights.  Conduct safety training topics as required or needed.  Responsible for attending all assigned safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.  As required, promptly investigate accidents and near misses, completing appropriate reports and taking action to eliminate root causes.
  • Support manufacturing operations automated controls systems
  • Support Keyence and Cognex vision systems.
  • Daily responsibilities include solutions implementation, support of production operations, and maintenance team objectives as assigned.
  • Act as process champion for new facility initiative to implement SCADA systems.
  • Modify programs to refine movement of robots using the various controllers.
  • Work closely with vendors and design teams. This will require following through the concept phase, the building phase, and the implementation phase of equipment in production before introducing to manufacturing team.
  • Develop and modify existing PC Based Systems, Motion Control Systems, and associated software.
  • Provide team support for installation and de-bugging of existing and new Automation Systems.
  • Communicate regularly with all key stakeholders (team members, supervisors, and management team) regarding problems or issues impacting production and any ongoing engineering activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical training documentation to support off-shift troubleshooting and reduction of equipment downtime.
  • Responsible to manage automation improvement projects, equipment modifications, and upgrades that will improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
  • Ensure equipment uptime through the expedient, effective resolutions of production equipment problems.
  • Serve as a working technical member of the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times (ex. Safety glasses and steel toe shoes). Safety equipment is provided by the Company with the exception of steel toe shoes, which must be provided by the employee upon the first day of employment.
  1. Secondary responsibilities:

  • Liaison with corporate IT for troubleshooting issues with manufacturing systems communications.
  • Assist in the development of corporate standards of control systems and software templates for new automation initiatives from concept to delivery.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation.
  • Operate test equipment and analyze resulting data to verify process stability.

    Qualifications (education, experience, skills, personal attributes)

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent degree or experience.
  2. The engineer shall have demonstrated skills in requirements gathering, design, configuration, integration, and implementation of process control systems including batch software, Distributed Control System (DCS), HMI packages, SCADA systems, and PC networking technology.
  3. Hands-on experience in equipment reliability, ABB Robot Studio, RS Logix, Fanuc Focus, Ignition, or other comparable platforms.
  4. Exposure to manufacturing processes that include automated assembly, welding, CNC, and laser machining.
  5. Familiarity with measurement and testing equipment such as optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, helium sniffers, and gage blocks.
