Position Title: Payroll Tax Accountant
Location: [Easton, PA]
Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Tax Accountant to join our Payroll team. The Payroll Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing payroll tax compliance, managing/monitoring the case management system with our third party payroll tax administrator and acting as a back-up for our Sr. Payroll accountant.  The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, payroll accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including working with our third party payroll tax administrator (TPA) to ensure the timely filing of tax returns, tax payments and reconciling discrepancies that is accomplished using their case management system
  • Tax Reporting: Work with TPA to ensure timely preparation and submission of various payroll tax reports, including quarterly and annual filings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Research and Analysis: Stay updated on changes to payroll tax laws and regulations, conduct research as needed, and provide recommendations for compliance.
  • Shadowing/backing-up Sr. Payroll Accountant responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll related tasks and supports the Accounting and Corporate Tax departments.  Key duties include account reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, ERP system updates, monthly Workday integrations, month-end close activities, and processing monthly foreign sales contractor payments. 
  • Audits and Investigations: Assist in payroll tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline payroll tax processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce errors.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including TPA, accounting, finance, and HRIS teams , to ensure alignment on payroll tax matters.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPP certification preferred.
  • Payroll System experience required (i.e., PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc)  - Workday experience preferred
  • 2 years experience working with various local, state and federal tax authorities
  • 5 years of experience in payroll tax accounting or related field.
  • Experience with BNA/Bloomberg tax compliance/research software/platform or equivalent
  • Thorough understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
