Senior Data Quality Assurance Engineer

Vibrent, a rapidly growing health-tech company, is looking for a Senior Data Quality Assurance Engineer to support Vibrent’s data-driven approach to health, as we explore data from multiple disparate sources to discover patterns and hidden insights.

You will need to verify the accuracy and completeness of very large, complex, cloud-based scientific datasets and provide confidence that our data processing tools and methods create accurate data.  The work that you do will contribute to improving the health of people across the nation.

You will be responsible for verifying the quality of data in our products, and the integration of data across products and the processing of data pipelines.


  • Develop a Data Quality Assurance Plan that documents deficiencies in data quality, sources of those deficiencies, potential mitigations, and constraints associated with those mitigations, and includes benchmarks for data quality.
  • Verify the quality of data pipeline development and deployment to production environments, including data in databases and in Amazon S3 buckets.
  • Develop test strategies and test plans to ensure the quality of processes and accuracy of data in existing and future data pipelines.
  • Responsible for working across scrum teams to validate quality-related outputs and establishing metrics for data quality.
  • Ensure code is high quality through automated tests, production monitoring, reviewing creation and monitoring of alerts, and tracking defects and resolutions.
  • Develops the capability to monitor and report data quality benchmarks.
  • Perform System testing, Integration testing, Functional testing, Regression testing and Smoke Tests.
  • Ensure that deployment to kubernetes environments works as required and monitor logs for errors.
  • Write SQL scripts to extract the data and apply transformations to perform backend testing on databases.
  • Work with development and data engineers to troubleshoot critical production issues.
  • Keep up to date with latest technology trends
  • Work as a scrum team member in a highly creative and collaborative agile environment
  • Manage your own time and work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated experience showing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills paired with a desire to take initiative


  • Master’s degree in a science related field, with 2+ years’ experience; or BS degree in science related field with 8+ years of experience
  • Extensive experience validating data pipelines which use Python 3, Java, AWS S3 based solutions
  • Expertise with SQL, Amazon’s AWS, S3, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Python, Java, Helm
  • 3-5 years’ experience in performing data analysis by writing SQL queries against source and target system databases
  • Experience testing and using data lake solutions like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Databricks
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and continuous integration
  • Proven track record of working independently to deliver high quality code
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communications skills
  • Must be a critical thinker and self-starter
  • Ability to work in fast-paced nature of a high-growth organization
  • Expertise in Testing tools, ETL, DB (MySQL) & J2EE appl.
