About Valor's Impact Team

At Valor, we believe that being locally rooted shouldn't limit our reach. While our hearts remain here at home in southeast Nashville, our Compass model has become nationally relevant, and we feel a moral imperative to share what we’ve learned. We’ve made the strategic choice not to replicate and expand our network with new physical schools because we realize our greatest contribution to education reform isn't in adding bricks and mortar; it’s in scaling our "secret sauce" to empower educators everywhere.

Through the Impact Team, we act as a catalyst for systemic change, providing the tools and training necessary to transform school culture from the inside out. Our vision for the future of education is a world where all children have the opportunity to learn and develop in connection-rich school communities.

Our Primary Offerings

We turn our research and lived experience into actionable programs designed to support both students and staff. In addition to partnering with other changemakers in education, we offer 4 primary programs:
  • Compass Camp: A 3-year immersive training partnership where educators dive deep into our core relational models to join our growing network of Certified Powered by Compass Schools.
  • Compass Leader Fellowship: A transformative 2-year fellowship for school leaders to master the integration of human-centered systems at scale, offering a sustainable pathway to leading from within.
  • Circle Facilitator Course: A 1-year specialized training course in the art and science of Compass Circles, our foundational practice for community growth, offered through a hybrid of in-person and online learning.
  • Balance over Burnout: A 3-day teacher well-being workshop designed to provide educators with the resilience and tools needed to thrive in today’s classroom.

About the Role:

The Director of Partnership Experience will play a critical dual-impact role that balances external relationship management with internal operational excellence for the Impact Team.

On the Communications side, this individual will be the voice of Valor’s Impact Team. In addition to serving as the key point of contact for our partners regarding event registration, partnership agreements and billing, this individual will serve as our chief storyteller. They will be responsible for communicating the story of our team’s compelling work with partners for multiple audiences. By elevating the collective voices of the school communities we serve and chronicling the experiences we create together, this role ensures that we engage and retain our current partners, while attracting new relationships across newsletters, social media, and event promotion.

On the Operations side, this individual will ensure our physical and logistical environment runs like clockwork by coordinating event logistics like catering and pre-event communication, as well as ensuring the Compass Center is an orderly, hospitable environment within which to host events.

The ideal candidate is a clear communicator, a meticulous project manager, and a proactive problem-solver who identifies gaps and bridges them independently. This individual is a natural storyteller and connector who can translate partner impact into engaging content and conversation, while keeping the gears of the team turning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chief Storyteller: Actively engage with partners alongside the rest of the team; internalize the tangible and emotional experience of our work; capture and share the "impact stories" of our partnerships for multiple audiences (e.g., prospective partners, existing partners, funders) across multiple platforms (e.g., social media, newsletters)
  • Partner Liaison: Act as a primary contact for existing partners, facilitating the signing of agreements, streamlining billing communications, and managing pre- and post-event communications.
  • Event Orchestration: Lead the "boots on the ground" logistics for events—from promotional outreach and storytelling to catering and vendor management.
  • Office & Facilities Coordination: Oversee the orderliness and organization of the Compass Center, and partner with the facilities team to ensure a seamless work environment and to handle internal logistical needs as they arise.
  • Built to Last Liaison: Maintain the stream of communication and information between the Impact Team and the network wide operations team, Built to Last (BTL), to ensure compliance with network-wide operations systems and facilities maintenance. Meetings with this team will happen on a bi-weekly basis.

Key Experiences and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in a related role (e.g., Program Coordinator, Communications Associate, or Office Manager)
  • Experience in schools and school leadership teams is highly preferred. Alternatively, experience in other non-profit or agency settings is acceptable, especially roles that require managing multiple stakeholder relationships simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with email marketing campaigns, especially with tools like Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or HubSpot
  • Project management experience in tracking facility and event tasks, communicating with vendors, scheduling and communicating reminders to participants, and anticipating unexpected changes
  • Experience managing professional social media accounts on LinkedIn, Instagram, and X (Twitter) is preferred.
  • Basic graphic design skills using a platform like Canva for social posts, newsletters, and flyers preferred
  • Comfort with PandaDocs or DocuSign (for agreements) and basic exposure to invoicing and billing platforms preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience (5+ years) in a high-level operational or community-facing role

Skills:

  • Copywriting & Editing: The ability to write clean, persuasive, and emotive copy that captures the "human" side of data and school successes
  • Event Management: Proven ability to manage a run-of-show, from vendor selection and catering to onsite troubleshooting
  • Stakeholder Management: Skill in navigating billing and contract conversations with partners with both firmness and grace
  • Basic Visual Literacy: Ability to take/curate high-quality photos or videos at events to fuel storytelling

Knowledge:

  • A baseline understanding of the challenges and triumphs within the schools and communities we serve
  • Familiarity with basic vendor management best practices
  • Understanding of social media algorithms, email deliverability, and digital engagement trend

Personal Attributes:

  • An intuitive “radar” ability to see what needs to be done—whether it’s a partner needing a follow-up or clutter that needs organizing—before being asked.
  • A genuine passion for elevating the work that we do, the impact of human connection in schools, celebrating the success of our partners, and maintaining long-term relationships
  • The ability to remain the "coolest head in the room" during an event or a participant in need
  • Meticulous organization skills: a love for spreadsheets, checklists, neat and orderly spaces, and clear processes

Language Proficiency:

  • Full professional fluency in written and verbal English is required for drafting high-stakes external communications and newsletters.
